Main Scripture: Luke 1:5-13
More scriptures: Gen. 24:4, Gal.3:19, Mk.9:29
Yesterday, the Holy Ghost told us that prayer and intercession change things, no matter how difficult they may be. AND THAT THE HUSBANDMAN MUST BE THE PERSON TO LEAD. Why? It is because he is the head of the family kingdom. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church (Eph.5:23). I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will take your rightful place in the affairs of your wife, children and sheepfold. Amen.
But what are the benefits you enjoy when you take up the responsibilities to intercede and pray for your wife and children? Abraham, the husband of Sarah prayed for a wife for his son, Isaac (Gen.24:1-11). And the prayer of the father for his son came to pass. When you pray and intercede for your wife and children, you preserve their good and godly heritage and destinies. Your prayer makes them find their bearing very quickly in their spiritual journey, in marriage, career path, and much more. The destiny of your children is in your hands and your prayers help to define their path of success and breakthroughs. If Abraham didn’t pray for a wife for Isaac, Isaac would have missed his marital destiny and perhaps ended his destiny in shame.
Remember Samson in Judges 13. God had a divine plan for him long before he was born. He was ordained to be a deliverer, specifically to deliver the people of Israel. He was an agent God wanted to use to accomplish this great task. Sadly, he missed the mark of the high calling of God for his life. He married a stranger and camped with a prostitute because the father didn’t pray for him, consistently and constantly (Jdgs. 16:1). As the good and godly husbandman, there is nothing too little to pray for and there is nothing too late to pray for, especially the destiny of your family. What you pray for today will make the journey of the lives of your wife and children glorious tomorrow. When you pray, the angels of God surround your wife and children. When you pray, your wife and children excel academically without any struggle. When you pray, your wife and children become vessels of honour and not dishonor. When you pray, your wife and children are baptized to walk in the fear of God.
Do you want to have rest at old age? Do you want to reap the rewards of the joy of your fellowship with your wife and children tomorrow? Pray for them today and be consistent. Abraham prayed for Isaac and Isaac became blessed. Isaac prayed for Jacob and Jacob became blessed. Jacob prayed for his children and they became blessed. This is why we celebrate the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Pray, it’s never late because men ought to always pray and not faint (Lk.18:1).
