Main Scriptures: Is.41:10-21
More Scriptures: Rom.10:10, 2Pet.2:6, Jn.3:5
Some time ago, I was watching a Christian programme on television, and suddenly the Holy Ghost expressly splashed the last words of Jesus Christ while He hung on the Cross. And that is what I want to reenact today for you.
The Bible records that Jesus Christ cried out with a loud voice, saying, “it is finished”. I believe that this assurance is for a husbandman reading this devotional today. Jesus went to the Cross for you and me and when the chapter of the pain and agony would be closed, He said, “IT IS FINISHED”. The price for you to enjoy your wife and children and live a fulfilled life as the good and godly man, husband and father has been paid for by Jesus, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. Jesus Christ completed the work for you to overcome every root of bitterness, envy and unforgiveness you may have against your wife, children or any other person. The death of Jesus, the Head of the husbandman, has restored excellence to your relationships with your wife, children and others, family life, finances, character and attitude.
But for you enjoy the fullness of the finished work of Jesus as an excellent husbandman, shepherd, priest, prophet and pastor, you must have a relationship with Him. In Jn.3:5, the word of God tells us that except a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God(Jn.3:5). Having Jesus in you is what activates your access to the power that would make you reign in life as the good and godly husbandman. Secondly, you must be willing and committed to accept the demands of your headship. That is, as the head, you are representing Jesus in your family kingdom. So, whatever Jesus did and lived for is what must reflect in your life for your wife and children and the world to see. Thirdly, you must continue to declare God’s plan over the lives of your wife and children irrespective of what is happening in and around you. In Rom.10:10, the word of God tells us that with with the heart man believeth and with thy mouth confession is made unto salvation (Rom.10:10).
It is a great honour and privilege to be the good and godly man, husband and father at the same time.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, have mercy on me for living after the flesh.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live after the Spirit and the things of the Spirit.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me be like You to my wife and children in conduct, words, action and relationships.
FAITH CONFESSION
I live in the newness of the finished work of Jesus Christ because that is what empowers me to become the good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
