BE STEADFAST IN RIGHTEOUSNESS
Main Scriptures: Job 31:1-7
More Scriptures: Jas.1:7, Jer.11:12, Rom.12:21
One of my mentors in the Bible is Job. Each time I study his life and testimonies, I understand the power and blessings of being the godly husbandman. When you read the Book of Job, you will see a godly shepherd who defied the odds, stood for righteousness, and maintain his character. At the height of his challenges when his wife advised him to curse God and die, he refused and stood firm on his faith in God. He maintained his righteousness in God and His word. That is what God expects from every good and godly husbandman. God does not desire the husbandman to be unstable in character- a shepherd who changes his righteous position and compromises when it is obvious that he stands to gain much or he is under pressure.
The Scripture says of Job, I will wait on God until my change comes (Job 14:14). The Book of James says that an unstable man can never receive from the Lord (Jas.1:6-7). As the leader and the spiritual head of your family kingdom, you must understand that your life and conduct both in the secret and in the open must speak louder than your message. When you maintain consistency in godly character, you earn the trust of the people and create goodwill for your wife and children. The mistake most husbandmen make is to think that life starts and ends with them, their wives and children. God has made you a trans-generational agent of blessings (Gen.12:1-3). What this means is that beyond you and your wife and children, God wants the world to enjoy the fruits of your consistent manifestation of the God-kind of life.
But how do I maintain consistency in godly character to the extent that my wife and children and my close relations and those I relate with from time to time can vouch for my integrity? Firstly, you must walk in the fear of the Lord (Job 28:28). Secondly, you must always have the future in view and be posterity conscious (Jer.1:11-12). Thirdly, you must model an anchored life where you live from the point of view of character and not emotions. This means that you must bring your body under the influence of the word of God (Rom.12:21).
You must understand that what makes you the head of your family are the righteous deeds that you are known for. Therefore, you must continue to strive for righteousness and maintain godly living because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRIRUAL EXERCISE
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from living a double life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a consistent godly character.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart attract others to Your light.
FAITH CONFESSION
I overcome the desires of my flesh by the blood of Jesus Christ and live a life that is consistent with the word of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife, children and others in Jesus name. Amen.
