That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, I have made you the father of many nations. This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing (Rom.4:17)
The Scripture in Rom.4:17 is provided by the Person of the Holy Spirit to encourage every husbandman not to give up on their sheep. As the good and godly shepherd, you are the seed of Abraham. And as the seed of Abraham, you have the same covenant rights as he had. Despite all the challenges that came his way, he did not give up on God and his sheep. He was patient and unwavering in the ability of God to fulfil his plan for his family. He recreated his family heritage from barrenness to fruitfulness. He held unto God’s promises until the promised child, Isaac, was born. That is the mindset you must have toward your wife and children. It doesn’t matter how helpless and hopeless the challenge between you and your wife and children may be, you can recreate a better relationship.
But how do I recreate harmony in my family fold? The first action step you must take is to trust God. You must demonstrate an unshakable faith in God to bring to pass what He has said in His word concerning your life as the good and godly man, husband and father to your wife and children. In Heb.11, the Scripture says by faith they obtained good report…..(Heb.11:2). As the one with the responsibility to lead your wife and children, you can step into a new world of peace, harmonious relationship, being honoured by your wife and children, dignity amongst men and influence by the exercise of your faith in God. The second action step is for you to walk in divine wisdom. And you can obtain it by asking the Lord in prayers. The Book of James said, if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask the Lord and God shall give liberally…(Jas.1:5). The wisdom of God is as powerful as God Himself. And if God recreated the world after the mess (Gen.1:1-3), then you can operate in that level of wisdom to change every unpleasant and negative circumstances in your family fold. Anytime it appears you are struggling to lead your wife and children, pray for wisdom from God.
You have a glorious heritage in Christ. God has ordained you to bring His glory into your family fold. Connect with God and make your life count as the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the divine wisdom and help me to lead my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of great faith to recreate a glorious family.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of boldness and hope to wait on You until my change comes.
FAITH CONFESSION
I recreate my family by faith in God and hope in His word because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
