Main Scriptures: Romans 8:10-14
More Scriptures: Jn.14:26, Jn.16:13, Gal.5:18
For as many that are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God (Rom.8:10-14).
In the next 48 hours, the year 2021 will come to a close and a new year, 2022 will begin. But there is one very important partnership I want you to have as you prepare to enter the New Year. It is the partnership with the Person of the Holy Spirit. You must understand that only the husbandman who is led by the Spirit of God can understand and obey the instructions of God. And only the husbandman who is led by the Person of the Holy Spirit enjoys the blessings of the good and godly shepherd.
As the head of the family, you must be guided by the Person of the Holy Spirit, if you desire to make any meaningful impact in your family kingdom. In Jn.14:26, the Scriptures say, but the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE SHALL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, AND BRING ALL THINGS TO YOUR REMEMBRANCE, WHATSOEVER I HAVE SAID (Jn.14:26). As the spiritual leader of your sheepfold, the decisions you take concerning your wife and children and in other areas of life are very critical to the survival of your position as the good and godly husbandman, hence the need for you to walk and work with the Person of the Holy Spirit.
But why must I work and walk with the Person of the Holy Spirit to make the most of my success as the good and godly husbandman? It is because you are limited by nature. You do not know and cannot see all things. It is this limitation as the leader of your family that has made the Holy Spirit an important partner to you. Some of the unpleasant things that you do to your wife and children is due to ignorance because you do not know any better. For instance, in 1Pt.3:7-9, the Word of God says that husbands should deal with their wives according to knowledge. What knowledge? It is the knowledge of your wife, from God’s word. So, if the Holy Spirit does not teach and reveal to you the knowledge of God about your wife and even children, you may find yourself dealing treacherously with them (Mal.2:14, Eph.6:4), and unknowingly disobeying the instructions and commandments of God as the godly man, husband and father.
As the godly husbandman, when you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you, it will become easier for you to delightfully obey all His instructions. Also, your knowledge of your wife and children will improve and you will not see them as concerns or necessary evils. When the Holy Spirit leads you, you cannot take wrong decisions about your wife and children and in other areas of your endeavor. However, for you to enjoy His partnership, you must develop the attitude of asking for His opinion and direction about everything you want to do. And you do this through the platform of prayers (Matt.7:7). Learn to make the Person of the Holy Spirit your senior partner and sincerely consult with Him on the way forward and you will be amazed how refreshing your relationship with your wife and children will be.
