For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things,having promise of the life that now is ad of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For to this end we labour and suffer reproach because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially those who believe (1Tim.4:8-10).
You do not wish that you will improve on your leadership role as the head of your family by accident. You must consciously and deliberately work it out. It is not and will never be convenient for you. It would demand your time, resources, and your physical involvement.
But how do I work out to become a good and godly husband? First, you must draw up a programme for your life and the demands of your office. The Bible tells us in Hab.2 to write the vision and make it plain so that they may run that read it… You cannot run the office of the husbandman without a clear plan and expectations. You must decide what you want, using the Bible as the guide. Any plan that would make you to succeed without a firm foundation on the word of God cannot establish you as a husband.
Secondly, enhance your work out by engaging the power and spirit of prayer and intercession. When you learn how to pray for yourself and intercede for your flock, you become strong and unstoppable to be all that God wants you to be to your wife and children. Luke 18:1 says, men ought to always pray and not faint. The word of God also says that when we faint in the day of adversity, our strength is weak. A lot of the time as the head of the family, we give up so easily not because satan is strong but because we are not prepared spiritually. Thirdly, you work out on the platform of studying the word of God and meditating on it day and night. God speaking to Joshua, a husband like you and I, says to him, this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, for thou shall meditate upon it day and night…. The Bible is not a manual for Sunday show. It is the manual for life.
