Bible Texts: Ezk.34:1-2, Acts 3:5, Gen.7:24, Gen.2:18
The question posed in today’s devotional is for you and I. It is not only thought provoking, it is capable of resetting the architecture of your life as the husbandman if sincerely answered. I was in a meeting when this question popped up in my spirit. The Holy Spirit asked me this question; Can a husband lose his headship? While I struggle with this question, the answer popped up in my spirit from Ezk.34:1-2. And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say unto them, thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds, woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do not feed themselves. Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? As the head of your family and the spiritual authority in your family fold, never you think that you cannot lose your headship as a husband. It is the biggest lie of the devil and deceit from hell to think that you can express your position as the head of your family when you keep failing in your functions as the head of the family.
Adam toyed with his headship, he lost it, spiritually (Gen.3:4-10). Achan lost it physically-death (Jos.7:20-24). Ananias lost it to physical death (Acts 5:3-5). Eli, the priest, lost it to mental and emotional death (1Sam.3:12). God is not a respecter of persons. He is your Father. He wants the best for you. So, if you walk disrespectfully of your office as the husbandman, you will be scolded by God, your Father, who created the office (Gen.2:18) and placed you there as the head. You must, as the head of your family, continue to guard and sustain your office jealously. You must not take your position for granted. Don’t get to a point in your life when you conclude that as the head, you can begin to act un-husbandly.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live above board as a husband.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of foolishness and fear.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me indeed a good and godly husband.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a good and godly shepherd to my flock because that is my ordained calling as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
