THE WEED CALLED, PRIDE (2)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jas.4:5-6, 1Tim.3:6, Job 41:15, Pro.11:2

Having understood that pride is one of the most dangerous weeds that every husband must consciously and deliberately guard against, how then does he avoid it? How does he remain humble in the eyes of the Lord? You overcome the cancer called pride by submitting yourself to God, allowing Him to have His way in your life, decisions and conduct. The word of God affirms to this truth in James chapter 4. Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you (Jas.4:7). You must allow the word of God to define your way of life, even if it hurts or doesn’t make any reasonable season. You must allow the word of God to gain precedence over what you feel, the culture of your village, and traditions of your area or the doctrine of your denomination. The word of God is and remains your guiding light in your walk towards maturity as a good and godly husband.

In Acts.10:36, the Scripture says this, the word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, He is Lord of all. It is true that you are the lord over your wife and children. No one can contest that with you, not even your flock. Most times your decision is final, irrespective of whether it agrees with the word of God or not. You must, however, know that you have a Lord over your life. He is God. He made you the head of your family. He positioned you to lead your wife and children. So, He knows what you can do to be the best man, husband and father to your flock and the world around you. His grace is sufficient and available for you. But you can access it by being humble. The proof of your humility is the level of your obedience to His instructions. And once you begin to operate at the level of grace, you would grow to become a good and godly husband.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the pride of life and deceitfulness of satan.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon my life the spirit of grace and humility and let me walk in the path of righteousness.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me humble before Your eyes all the days of my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I bring into captivity pride and its affiliations by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, and put on the garment of humility because that is the gateway to reigning as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
