Bible Texts: Heb.8:3, 2Cor.9:7, Num.6:20-22, Heb.7:15-16
And since every high priest is required to offer gifts and sacrifices, our High Priest must make an offering too (Heb.8:3).
But what gifts do I have that I can offer to my wife and children? And what sacrifice can I make for the good of my wife and children? You can offer the resources God has blessed you with. This includes money or material blessings. You can also offer your gift and skills in helping your wife and children succeed in life and in their various pursuits. You can sacrifice the time you would have used to watch sports, read newspapers or engage in other leisure to support your wife and children in their work. It may not convenient for you but it is a worthy cause for you as the good and godly husbandman.
However, you must be aware of this truth from the Word of God. It is from 2Corinthians chapter 9. …..Let him give, not grudgingly but cheerfully……(2Cor.9:7). As you give your time and resources for the good of your wife and children, you must do it with cheerfulness. You must do it with excitement. Few days ago, having noticed that my wife was physically tired, I made up my mind to support her with the house chores. We did not have a help, so I had to get up at 4am. I had my fellowship with my heavenly Father and proceeded to offer my time. I made the lunch our children will take to school, cleaned the house and ensured that she would have no reason to exert much energy for the day. I was excited doing the work and I was glad God was proud of me.
There is so much you can do for the good of your wife and children. You can offer them your strength. You can offer them your skill. You can offer them your goodwill and prayers. You can offer them your protection. You can offer them your time and money. You can offer them your love, care and support. Your wife and children are gladly waiting for your offerings. Please, give it to them because that is what makes you the good and godly priest to them.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways and Your words.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to discover Your provision for my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give worthy sacrifice to my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I diligently search my Bible to find the provision God has provided for to sacrifice for my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
