Bible Texts: Col.3:9-10, Gen.1:26, Rom.8:20, 1Tim.4:4
As a husband, have you ever met a manufacturer before? Well, if you have not, let me give you an insight into their world. Every manufacturer or creator has an idea of what they want to create. The final output in the line of production, most often than not, meets their expectation of what they have dreamed or imagined and hoped for. The output depends on the overall input of the creator. The manufacturer receives the input, processes it and brings out a finished product.
Now, relate this to your relationship with your wife and children. You will discover that you are like the creator or manufacturer and your wife and children are inputs. And what they turn out to be in life is the sum total of what you have invested in their lives. As the head of your family and the leader of the family, God has committed into your hands your wife and children. You are to reproduce yourself in their lives. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands are ordained to behave, reproduced Himself in the lives of His disciples. A time came in the ministry of the disciples of Jesus that people who saw them acknowledged that these men have been with Christ. The people saw the reflection of Jesus Christ in the lives of His followers. Jesus Christ reproduced Himself in His disciples.
So the questions you should ask yourself are these. What kind of life are you reproducing in the lives of your flock? Is your life worth emulating? If not, then you need to renew your life with the knowledge of Christ. Put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him (Col.3:10).
For you to achieve this set target, you must continue to examine your life to see if you are still in the faith. Secondly, you have to deliberately develop strategies to recreate your values in the lives of your flock. For instance, what are the principles you have drawn from the Word of God that you are living by and want your wife and children to walk in?
As the head, you must take responsibility for the lives of your wife and children. You do not wish that your flock will love the Lord, live an honest, compassionate and god-kind of life. You must consciously enforce God’s will by the weapon of daily confession, prayer and intense intercession.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by the saving grace of Jesus Christ, make my life a living example to my wife and children.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, deliver me from every distraction of the enemy.
- Father, grant me grace to continue to please You in all things and at all times.
FAITH CONFESSION
I set my life in Jesus Christ, because through Him I will be able to recreate His life in me in the lives of my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
