PASSION OF LOYALTY

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Matt.26:34-35, Roms.12:1, Heb.13:5, Jn.3:7, Eph.6:12, 2Cor.10:4-5, Mk.9:29, Rev.12:11

I have come to realize that loyalty and passion are connected. When a person is loyal he or she tends to be passionate about the person they are loyal to. This is the attitude of Peter with Jesus Christ. He was a loyal follower of Jesus Christ and quite passionate about Jesus. His passion motivated him to cut off the ears of one of those who came to arrest Jesus Christ. He did everything to protect the Person of Jesus Christ.

That is the attitude that God wants you and I to have towards our sheep. God wants you to be loyal to your wife and children. God wants you to protect your wife and children from the harassment of man, the world, family members, relations and satan. God wants you to stand strong in defence of your wife and children in every way possible. The Bible speaks of the nature of God as the loyal Shepherd to us. I will never leave you nor forsake you……(Heb.13:5). And I will be with you till the end (Matt.28:20).

But how do I become passionate and loyal to my wife and children? The first step is for you to intentionally make Jesus Christ your Lord and Personal Saviour. This means accepting His Lordship over your life and all that you represent. You must born again….(Jn.3:7).  And …..Lord over all (Acts10:36). It is when you make Jesus Christ your Lord that He manifests Himself fully in your life to makes you live out His nature and character of a passionate and loyal husbandman.

Secondly, you must engage the twin forces of prayer and fasting as your weapon of warfare because the weapon of your warfare are not carnal…...(2Cor.10:4-5). As the head of the family, you must appreciate that you are contending with satan, sin and the world. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers and wickedness in high places (Eph.6:12). With fasting and prayers, you can dislodge every force that wants to influence you to be disloyal to your wife and children (Mk.9:29).

Thirdly, you must plead the blood of Jesus Christ over your spirit, soul and body. The blood of Jesus Christ contains the life and power of His Person, Jesus Christ. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb….(Rev.12:11). You can overcome that urge that wants to make you act disloyally to your wife and children. You can break the power that is influencing you to take actions that question your loyalty to your wife and children.

You and I must continue to develop the discipline that will help us become loyal to our sheep, no matter what. And as we walk in loyalty, which is the character of the Person of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and goodly husbandman, our lives become a testimony and living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God (Rom.12:1-2).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to be loyal to You, my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to lead my wife and children by example.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help my wife and children to follow my leading.

FAITH CONFESSION

I exercise myself in the truth of God’s word to be loyal to lead my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
