Bible Texts: Romans 4:19-21, Mal.2:14, Rom.2:10, Matt.19:8, Heb.11:1, Rom.8:30-32
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. And being FULLY PERSUADED that what he had promised he was able to perform (Rom.4:19-21).
Let’s start today’s teaching by establishing some truths. The first is this. There is no perfect person. The second is this. Challenges are the spice of life because nothing works until somebody works it out.
These truths should help you understand that as the good and godly husbandman, you have enormous responsibility toward your wife, children and sheepfold. And that no matter what the challenges are between you and your sheep, you see divine opportunity to demonstrate who you are in Jesus Christ as the good and godly man, husband and father.
Sometimes as the head of your family, the attitude of your wife and children could be frustrating, discouraging and depressing. And in all of these unpleasant situations, satan whispers to you that there is no need to hold onto your family anymore. He tells you there is no hope for your wife and children. He magnifies their weaknesses and concludes that the end has come for you. Well, if that is your case, I want to assure you today that there is hope for you and a sure guarantee that your wife and children are not to be written off. Your wife and children are good and godly heritage from God, principally for your enjoyment and this is why the word of God in Romans chapter 4 is coming your way to encourage you to never give up on your wife and children. You must be fully persuaded what God has said about them and not what is happening with and around them.
Jesus Christ lived joyfully with the twelve disciples-all manifesting different attitude- both positive and negative. Your wife and children are not perfect. They are all work in progress. God sent them to you to dress, tend and nurture them in the way and admonition of the Lord (Gen.2:14, Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4). Your wife and children are God’s seeds in your hands. You must not throw them away because of the negative happenings with, in and around them. And as you walk in hope for a better life for them, God will crown you with glory, honour and peace (Rom.2:10).
You are a worker of good works. You must keep your sheep and sheepfold as compact as a fortress (Mal.2:14, Matt.19:5-8). Your faith must come alive to trust that God can help your wife and children become all that He created them to be. You must be persuaded in your spirit that the word of God is the weapon you need to effect the change. Therefore, hold onto to what God has said and let it inspire faith in your heart to becoming the good and godly husbandman to your wife and children.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every satanic hold of discouragement, hopelessness, fear and doubt.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, stir up a higher dimension of faith in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every form of deceitfulness.
FAITH CONFESSION
I refuse to give up on the word of God, on my wife and children because I have the word of God and the wonderful Spirit of Jesus working inside of me, thereby making me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
