The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever that we may follow all the words of this law (Deut.29:29 (NIV).
There are secrets from the word of God that will help you become the good and godly husbandman. And that is what I want to share with you even as we are on the final lap in the month of May, 2022. By the grace of God, we shall be exploring four (4) secrets that will make you an outstanding shepherd both to yourself, your wife, children and in the marketplace of life. I called them the secret codes. And if you operate these codes, it will set you on a new level of godly influence over your wife and children and of success as the good and godly man, husband and father.
Now, what are these secret codes? The first is that you must be and live healthy. It has been said that health is wealth. Without health, you cannot be strong enough to execute God’s demands of your office as the husbandman. You need to be healthy in your mind and in your body. You need to be strong physically. And you do this by eating right and making time to rest. Even God, who made you the head of your family rested. This is what the Scripture says about it. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made (Gen.2:1-2).
Also mind what you eat. There are some foods that you eat that seem to enhance your status but are poisons to your body. There are certain foods you will never find me eating, no matter how hungry I may be. God has helped me to bring my appetite under control.
The second secret code is that you must be a passionate reader. There is no mountain anywhere, everyman’s mountain is his ignorance. So, if you want to overcome the challenges in your leadership function, you must be full of the knowledge of Jesus Christ and what He represents as the godly husbandman. The Bible says this. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth but though shall meditate upon it day and night and observe to do all that is contain there. And when you keep in touch with the word of God, you make your ways prosperous. In 2nd Timothy chapter 2, the Scripture says, study to show thyself approved unto God as a workman who is not ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth (2Tim.2:15).
You must understand that there is the God’s way to treat your wife and children and there is also the world’s way. It takes the knowledge from the Word of God to handle your wife and children His way. And that is what guarantees your excellence as the good and godly shepherd.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes to behold the truth from Your word.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a profitable shepherd to my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of grace and holiness and discipline.
FAITH CONFESSION
I engage the word of God in my leadership position as the head of my family because that is what makes me the good and godly man, husband and father to my wife and children and in the market place of life in Jesus name. Amen.
