Bible Texts: Deut.29:28-29, Jn.14:26, Jos.1:6-8, Gen.1-2, Pro.23:20, 2Tim.2:15. 2Cor.7:1, Jer.33:2, Jas.5:16, Lk.18:1-2
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever that we may follow all the words of this law (Deut.29:29 (NIV).
Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, I shared with us two secrets from the word of God, that if unlocked will make you an outstanding, strong and godly shepherd to your wife and children. I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, that you will engage with these secrets all the remaining days of your life. Amen.
What is the third secret? It is prayer. The weapon of prayer is an indispensable arsenal that you require to lead, to continue to lead and to remain the good and godly husbandman and leader in your sheepfold. Consider this Bible passage for a moment, which Jesus Christ spoke. Men ought to always pray and not faint (Lk.18:1). And in James chapter 5, the Scripture says this. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man avails much (Jas.5:16). Prayer is the cure to the pressure you are encountering in life and with your wife and children. Prayer has the power to stop what needs to be stopped and recover what needs to be recovered and restored.
As the shepherd in your family fold, prayer is one of the strongest weapons that God has given to you to reign as the king and priest. Some of the benefits you enjoy when you pray are these. Firstly, it empowers you to be able to withstand any pressure that may arise while leading your wife and children. Secondly, it also empowers your faith to trust God that all things are possible. Thirdly, it also empowers you to operate in divine wisdom thereby making you to know how to handle your sheep as Jesus Christ would. The word of God has this to say in this regard. Call unto me and I will answer you and show great and mighty things that you know not (Jer.33:3). So, I urge you not to see praying as a meal ticket but engage it as the fuel you require to strengthen your position as the good and godly husbandman.
The fourth secret is to live a blameless life of integrity. This is so important in view of the testimonies our lives ought to produce as ambassadors of Jesus Christ to our wives and children. Moreover, he must have a good report of them which are without, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil (1Tim.3:7). As the good and godly shepherd, we are daily exposed to temptations of various dimensions and they come from the devil, our adversary and the world. But the word of God has assured us that no temptation can overtake us because we have the mind of Christ. You can triumph over all forms of filthiness of the spirit and flesh (2Cor.7:1).
God has great plans for you and your wife, children and sheepfold. He ordained you to provide good and godly leadership to your wife and children. You must take full advantage of these secrets to become the good and godly shepherd to your wife, children, and the marketplace of life.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome satan, sin and the world.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my life a living testimony to my wife, children and the world.
FAITH CONFESSION
I engage the four secrets of a great shepherd because I am determined to become the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children and in the marketplace of life in Jesus name. Amen
