SET GODLY STANDARDS

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Is.62:10, Jn.13:15, 1Jn.2:6, Jos.24:15, Matt.5:14-16, Deut.28:1-3, Ps.1:1, Ps.24:1-2, Ps.127:1-2

Go through, go through the gates, prepare ye the way of the people, cast up, cast up the highway, gather out the stones, lift up a standard for the people (Is.62:10).

The Scripture in Isaiah chapter 62 and verse 10 is set out today to challenge you and I to set godly standards for ourselves and our sheep. This means setting up codes, ethics and principles that have their root in the Bible. God wants you and I to live by His words and guide our sheep to do the same.

As the good and godly husbandman, you must understand that the Bible is the basis on which you develop the principles. You have to live by the godly values and guide your wife and children to follow you in obeying and living the godly principles. No husbandman is worth his position as the leader if he has no biblical principles guiding his life. It is worse if neither his wife nor children are following him and the commandments of Scriptures. Your life must motivate your wife and children and the people around you to want to aspire to be the best in life. Your life must become a standard that anyone would want to emulate and publicly talk about. Jesus, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, set up standards for His disciples and the world at large. The Scripture says, for I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you (Jn.13:15).

Have you set biblical principles for your life and your wife and children? What kind of standard have you set? Are they principles of holiness, righteousness, diligence, independence, good work ethics, selflessness, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, giving and loyalty? The Bible is your best source to develop principles that God expects you to live by for a profitable life as the good and godly man, husband and father.

But for you to be able set godly principles for your life and for your wife and children, you must give attention to the word of God, believe what it says and obey all that it commands. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk, even as he walked (1Jn.2:6).. And it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandment which I command thee this day ……(Deut.28:1).

As the good and godly husbandman, you cannot be a success as the good and godly man, husband and father and be profitable to your wife and children if you are not guided by the principles of the Bible. God wants your life, action and conduct to be influenced by His instructions, and He wants those godly principles to be the road map and standard for your life, wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to lay the right standards for my life, wife and children and the world around me.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me an example that my wife, children and others would follow.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to be the doer and hearer of Your instructions.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take responsibility to set up good and godly principles for my life, wife, children and the people around me because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
