FEED YOUR MIND RIGHTLY TO BUILD YOUR LIFE STRONGLY
Bible Texts: Rom.12:1-3, Jn.17:17, Php.2:5, 1Pet.1:13, Eph.5:21-27, 1Cor.13:4-8, Mk.9:29, Lk.6:45
As the good and godly husbandman, your mind remains the most powerful seat for decision, influence and commitment. It is the place where your outward life is formed and this determines the quality of your relationship with God, your wife and children and the society. So, whatever you want to do to your wife and children and the society at large begins in your mind. And whatever your mind conceives, you will perform.
The scripture in Romans chapter 12 and verses 1 to 3 reminds you and I that until our minds are renewed by the word of God, we will be unable to do what is right to our wife, children, and we will struggle to do the will of God as men, husbands and fathers. In 1Peter chapter 1, the Bible says, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1Pet.1:13). Furthermore, the Scripture says, be not conformed to this world, but ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (Rom.12:1-3). This is the only way you can have the mind of Christ-think like Jesus Christ would, talk like He would and act like He would-to your wife and children.
The starting point to loving your wife as God commands you to begin in your mind (1Cor.13:1-end, Eph.5:21-27). The starting point to train, nurture and discipline your children first begins in your mind too (Eph.6:4, Col.3:21). Jesus, our Perfect example of the godly husbandman tells us, that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Lk.6:45). This is why as the head of the family, you must first think through every decision or action first in your mind, using God’s word as a basis, before you execute them.
The reason you keep going back and forth in errors, always apologizing for doing the wrong things to your wife and children is because you have not guarded your mind by the renewing of it by the Word of God. You must continually feed your mind with God’s Word. It is the richness of God’s Word in your mind that enhances the quality of your relationship with your wife and children. The rules of engagement for your office as the good and godly man, husband and father are contained in the Bible. If you take time to study and meditate on the rules and letting the truth of the word of God to gain root in your mind, then you would have succeeded in conditioning your mind to honour God, your wife and children and the world.
As the good and godly shepherd, you don’t lose anything for doing what is right but you lose everything for doing what is wrong. Let me give you an assignment starting from today. I want you to study the entire book of Timothy and Titus in the Bible. Read one chapter everyday and write down three things that God tells you to do. Think through them continuously and pray them into your spirit. You will be amazed how much positive changes you will see in your life and in your relationship with your wife and children.
You have the mind of Christ.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the power of Your word renew my mind continually.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of Your word and its fruitfulness.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes as I study Your word.
FAITH CONFESSION
I set my eyes on the WORD OF GOD to renew my mind so that I can act like Jesus Christ would to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
