Bible Texts: 1Cor.3:1-4, Mal.3:10, 2Cor.9:7, Heb.13:8, 1Kgs.3:1-3, Lk.6:38
Many times as the head of the family and someone who is determined to be ruled by the word of God in truth and in spirit, we struggle to understand how God blesses, financially. As the godly husbandman who pays his tithe, gives for the advancement of the kingdom of God and supports the orphans, widows and the needy in your environment, you do not understand why your financial status has not changed. You seem to be living from hand to mouth. You hardly make ends meet and fulfill your covenant obligations as the provider in your sheepfold.
But as I began to make inquiries from the Lord on how He blesses faithful givers, He opened me up to four principal ways or channels. And that is what I want to share with you today. I need you to understand that your financial giving is a memorial to God. Every time you give of your financial seeds cheerfully, it ascends to God as a sweet smelling savour (1Kgs.3:1-3, 2Cor.9:7). So, do not lose hope. The heaven over your finances is opening right now in Jesus name. Amen.
So how does God bless you financially? Firstly, when you give, God speaks to you. In 1Kgs.3:1-3, after Solomon gave, God responded to his giving by speaking to him. God asked him to place a demand on what He would want Him to do for him. And because God has not changed, He stills speaks (Mal.3:6, Heb.13:8). I had shared this is my testimony several times and I would like to share it again.
Sometime in December 2007 at a programme, I was led to give of my financial seed. When I gave, I was expecting a financial harvest almost immediately but it did not come. But on a particular Sunday in February, 2018, which happened to be my birthday month, I asked the Lord how will He bless me? And God said these words to me, “My son, I will give you a gift every month for the rest of your life”. And to the glory of God, I have always received a gift since February 2008 till date.
Secondly, when you give, God touches the hearts of men to gravitate with their financial and material resources in your direction to give to you. In Lk.6:38, the Scripture says this much. Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down shaking together and running over shall men give to your bosom…. (Lk.6:38). You must understand that the silver and gold that you require to live a comfortable life and be a channel of blessings to your wife and children and the world are in the hands of men. When you give of your financial and material resources for the promotion of the work of God and the good of mankind, He touches the hearts of men to give to you.
I recall some years ago, I got a call from my father figure. He needed to pay his rent. I did not have all the money he requested for but I had something to offer. I sent the money to him in the morning and he prayed and blessed me. Before I closed from work that same day, my client called me and requested for my account number. He said that he needed to send me something for the weekend. To the glory of God, my account was credited with nearly ten times what I gave.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the giving grace.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give willingly and cheerfully.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to see, recognize and apply myself to the ways You want to bless me.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a giver and a channel of God’s blessings to humanity because that is empowers me to continue to reign as a prosperous, good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
