And what I say unto you I say unto all, WATCH (Mk. 13:37).
It is important for you to note that as the head of your family and the spiritual authority over your wife and children, you have a greater role to play as a watchman. You are the shepherd and your wife and children are your sheep. No one not even the devil has the power to influence your wife and children and home unto unrighteousness. It is very important for you to know that you are the access door to the lives of your wife and children. And no one can gain entrance into their lives without your permission, not even the devil.
But you may want to ask, in what areas am I supposed to watch over my wife and children?
Firstly, you exercise watch over their spiritual lives. And you do this by interceding for the salvation and establishment of their souls into the kingdom of God and unto righteousness (2Cor.5:17). The Bible tells us that as leaders over our sheep, we must travail in prayers unto Christ is formed in them (Gal.4:19). Your greatest heritage is the spiritual wellbeing of your wife and children, because when their spiritual lives are in order, every other area of their lives will fall unto pleasant places (Ps.16:6, Ps.61:9).
Secondly, you must watch over your home environment to ensure only good and godly influence exists. In Joshua 24:15, the Scripture says of a husband, who influenced not only his family unto following God, but also a whole nation. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Jos.24:15). Joshua was commanded to watch over the people just the same way God has made you to watch over your wife and children. See what he said. And it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods.
The spiritual lives of your wife and children and the home environment they live in are very precious to God and to you. You are on an assignment to provide protection, guidance and godly influence to your wife and children. No can do it but you because it is your divine call as the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, endue me with power to watch over my wife and children diligently.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from fear and timidity.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of courage and boldness, as I watch over my wife, children and home.
FAITH CONFESSION
I awake and watch over the lives of my wife and children because that is my honour as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
