SOW THE SEED OF THE WORD OF GOD

Bible Texts: Heb.4:12-14, Gen.8:22, Ps.119:105, Pro.4:20-23, Ps.12:6, 2Pet.1:7, Jas.3:7, Rev.12:10, Jn.5:39, Job 14:14, Job 6:25

While the earth remaineth seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Gen.8:22) KJV. 

I have come to discover that life will never give you what you want. Life will only give you what you demand. And that life responds to seed time and harvest. So, as the head of the family and the shepherd of your sheep, you must understand the importance of sowing good seeds if you desire to reap good harvest. And the greatest seed you can sow into the lives of your wife and children is the seed of the WORD OF GOD. The word of God is the most powerful seed you can plant into the lives of your wife and children that will yield the desired results you want to see in them.

But why should I plant the word of God into the lives of my wife and children? The word of God, and not your money, material or fame, has the power to bring the positive changes you want to see in your wife and children. In Heb.4:12, the word of God is described as “quick and powerful”. If you have a wife who is disrespectful, dishonest and not hospitable or children who are rebellious, immoral and undisciplined, you can recover their dignity and honour by the word of God. Keeping malice with them or assaulting them physically will not change them but only through the word of God. You can chase away ungodly influences from and around the lives of your wife and children if you can engage the force of the word of God. The Bible says, how forceful are right words (Job 6:25).

But how do you sow God’s words into your life and the lives of your wife and children?

Firstly, you must trust the word of God to be true, powerful and alive. This is because what you don’t trust, you cannot follow. Two Scriptures are important here. Search the Scriptures, for in it ye think ye have life (Jn.5:39). And the other is, the word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps.119:105). You must have faith in God and His word that it can do whatsoever it says and can reframe any life no matter bad or worse that life may be (Heb.11:3).

Secondly, you must be consistent in sowing and praying the word into your life and the lives of your wife and children. A lot of the times, you are tempted to be discouraged with the results you see in the lives of your wife and children despite the word of God you have believed for them. Please, don’t give up on the word of God and the positive changes you have prayed for your wife and children. Job, a good and godly husbandman like you and I made this bold declaration about holding unto the word of God, if a man die shall he live again? All the days of my appointed will I wait till my change come (Job 14:14).

Thirdly, you must continue to declare the word and counsel of God over your life and the lives of your wife and children, notwithstanding anything contrary. For with the heart man believeth but with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Rom.10:10). You must not allow satan, sin and the world to drown your faith in the word of God for your wife and children.

And as you commit to taking up these spiritual responsibilities, you will create an enduring godly legacy for your family and your name and family would become agents of trans-generational blessings. You will also enjoy peace, joy in the Holy Ghost and soundness of mind.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to sow right words into my life and the lives of my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, uproot every ungodly seed I have planted in their lives in time past.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to hold onto Your word for my wife and children and empower my seeds to yield godly fruits.

FAITH CONFESSION

I keep planting the WORD OF GOD into my life and the lives of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
