GOD’S WORD IS THE LAMP YOU NEED

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.119:104-105, Ps.119:130, Jn.5:39, Jn.8:32, Rom.12:2, Jos.1:8, Ps.1:2-3, Jn.1:1-3

If you have ever walked in the dark before, you would appreciate the importance of a lamp, no matter how dim it may be. One of the things that happens when you walk in the dark is that you struggle to move around because you cannot see clearly. The second thing that happens is that you are afraid you may stumble on something precious and damage it. These realities have become the experience of many husbandmen as they lead their wife and children. They struggle to love their wives as Christ would and nurture their children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.5:25, 1Tim.3:3-7, Eph.6:4). Some struggle with sin, both of the flesh and the spirit (2Cor.7:1), resulting in many husbandmen living in regrets. Many more are confused and lack direction. But this is not the will of God for you.

God wants you to walk in the LIGHT. God doesn’t not want you to walk in darkness neither does He want you to lack direction. God doesn’t want you to struggle as the good and godly man, husband and father. He wants you to enjoy your wife and children. He wants you to be truly the godly husbandman indeed. He wants your works to describe your worth. He wants your life as the good shepherd to inspire your wife, children and other husbandmen. But if all of these are the will of God for me, how do I walk in this reality as I lead my wife and children?

You live this reality by making the word of God your lamp that provides you light. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps.119:105). The Bible further says, the entrance of thy words giveth light, it giveth understanding to the simple (Ps.119:130). The word of God is the compass you need to lead your wife and children. The word of God is the wisdom you require to overcome whatever challenges that would come from relating with your wife and children. The word of God provides the answers to all the questions that concern your role as the good and godly man, husband and father. The word of God gives you the platform upon which you can develop the weapons you need to dislodge every root of ungodliness in your life and the lives of your wife and children.

However, you have the responsibility to personally search the Scripture. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth but thou shall meditate upon it day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein….(Jos.1:8). And in John Gospel chapter 5, the Bible admonishes you and I to, search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life (Jn.5:39). You must also allow the word of God to dwell richly in you by thinking about it. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in the law doth he meditate day and night (Ps.1:2). You must walk with the Person of the Holy Spirit to teach and empower you to see what He is showing you, hear what He is telling you and strengthen you to do as the word commands. I will send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. He will teach you all things….(Jn.14:26).

Therefore, embrace the word of God with joy, practice what it commands and you will end up becoming the amazing good and godly husbandman your wife and children will adore, and the example every man would want to be like, bringing glory to Jesus Christ, our Lord.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, let Your word gain root in my heart and let it bear fruits in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, break every root of spiritual arrogance and pride in my life and fill me with a humble spirit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide continually by Your word and make me a profitable steward to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I search MY BIBLE, believe what the WORD OF GOD SAYS and act on the WORD OF GOD at all times and in all circumstances because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
