While I was meditating on the challenges the husbandman is faced with and his responses, the Holy Spirit, my Teacher and Guide said these words to me. “Everything begins with a thought”. He said that every negative lifestyle and habit the husbandman finds himself in begins with a thought. For example, laziness, excuses, wife battering, adultery, dishonesty, lack of confidence, bitterness, envy, hopelessness, insecurity, fear, unforgiveness, hatred, tightfistedness, addiction to pornography and drugs all begin with a thought. It is when the negative thoughts are not stopped that it becomes life. Also, when you feed good and godly thoughts, it leads you to bear righteous fruits. This is because thoughts are like seeds. And until the farmer provides the right environment for the seeds, it will remain seeds and will not bear fruits.
You must understand that as the good and godly husbandman and the shepherd over your wife and children, you may not be able to stop thoughts from flying over your heart. But you have the power to determine which thoughts (seeds) require nurturing to grow. You and I will be tempted on a daily basis, irrespective of our level of anointing. As long as you and I are in this world, we would have to make choices, whether right or wrong choices. So, don’t ask why I am being tempted. It is normal. It is when you feed the thoughts that you manifest the fruits whether good or evil.
But how do you ensure that only the right thoughts (seeds) gain root in your heart and consequently bear fruits that will affect your wife and children positively? Romans chapter 12 provides the answers.
Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but LET GOD TRANSFORM YOU INTO A NEW PERSON BY CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Rom.12:2) NLT. The King James Version renders it this way. Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (Rom.12:2).
So, the way of escape for you is to place every thought side by side the word of God. You do this by comparing the thought (seed) in your head and the will of God (Bible). If the seed in your head is contrary to what the Bible has offered, quickly throw it away. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS (Philp.4:8). If the thoughts in your head are true, honest, just, pure, lovely of bad reports and will not bring praise to your Father in heaven, feed them so that they bear fruits. But if they are not, starve them.
But how do I feed good and godly thoughts and starve ungodly thoughts? There are two weapons you can use. The first is to plead the blood of Jesus Christ over your thoughts (Rev.12:10-12). The second is to speak in unknown tongues. When you speak in the language of the Holy Ghost, you enable your good and godly thoughts to produce fruits and disable the power to nurture unrighteous thoughts.
As the head of the family, the will of God for you is to please Him. God wants you to do His will for your wife and children. You are His ambassador in your sheepfold. God wants His mind to be in you. God wants you to have the mind of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman so that you can bear good and godly fruits. Therefore, feed the thoughts in your heart that will bear good and godly fruits and starve those that will not bring honour, praise and glory God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, your wife and children.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, HELP ME TO THINK ONLY ON RIGHT THOUGHTS and uproot every thought that has become stronghold in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the power of the enemy holding me back from doing Your will.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the power of the gospel save me from the pressures of sin and its attractions.
FAITH CONFESSION
I keep watch over my thought and nurture only those that will bring honour to Jesus Christ, my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
