Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust her, so that he shall have no need of spoil (Pro.31:10-11).
I did not plan to write on this topic today, but as I was searching the Scriptures, the Person of the Holy Spirit began to teach me from Proverbs chapter 31 and that is what I want to share with any husbandman who is in secure and struggling to trust his wife.
As the good and godly husbandman and the head of your family, trust is the force that binds you and your wife together. Trust is the foundation upon which your wife and yourself can build a good and godly family. Without it, there is no relationship that exists between you and your wife. Trust is of the heart and not of the head. What this means is that you don’t assume trust, you deliberately choose to trust. This is why the Scripture says, “and the heart of her husband doth safely trust her (Pro.31:11a). So you can see that trust is at the center of your relationship with your wife. According to the word of God to you, your heart must not just trust your wife, you must safely do so. This is so important because trusting your wife is your security to loving her as Christ has loved the church and gave Himself (Eph.5:25).
The day you start doubting your wife is the day you lose your security over her life. The day you start suspecting your wife is the day you commence the destruction of your family foundation. So how do I now safely trust my wife?
Firstly, you must walk in the love of Christ. God is love (1Jn.4:8), and if you dwell in Him you also dwell in love (1Jn.4:16). What will the love of Christ that dwells in you do for you? The love covers the multitude of sin that your wife may have committed. It also helps you to see her as someone who needs help and not condemnation. This love also helps you to think of what is good, lovely and of good report toward her at all times and in every situation (Philp.4:8).
Secondly, you must feed your heart with right words. The Bible is filled with so much word you can draw from. For the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life (Jn.6:63). And, search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life (Jn.5:39). God’s word is life. God’s word is faith. God’s word builds.
Thirdly, pray unto God in faith and not in fear (Heb.11:6, Lk.18:1). You must continually keep the communication line between you and God open. Prayer destroys doubts. Prayer elevates trust and faith.
The godly husbandman is secured in Jesus Christ and he safely trusts his wife.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, every trace of doubt in my life
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, revive the spirit of truth in my heart for my wife.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help to safely trust my wife and not doubt her.
FAITH CONFESSION
I will safely trust my wife with my heart and not my head because that is what makes me a good and godly husbandman to her in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
