CHOOSE THE RIGHT COMPANY

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.1:1-2, 1Cor.15:33, Pro.13:20, Gen.12:1-2, Hag.1:5, Matt.5:14-16, Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, Matt.7:7, Jn.10:10

I heard a wise man who said that the company you keep determines what accompanies you. This is true and consistent with the instructions from the word of God. As the good and godly husbandman, you have the right to choose the company you keep because the relationship you keep can either make you or destroy you.

As the leader who desires and longs to please God by doing His will for your wife and children, you must define who your company is. You must choose who you walk with, sit with and stand with. A lot of the times, you act contrary to your good plans toward your wife and children not because you want to but because of the influence of your friends. But thank God, the Bible provides three important areas you must examine and avoid if the company you have or want to keep does not align with the truth of the word of Jesus Christ for you as the godly man, husband and father.

Blessed is the man that WALK NOT in the counsel of the ungodly nor STAND IN the way of sinners nor SIT IN the seat of the scornful (Ps.1:1)……….. I want you to pause for a moment as answer these questions. Who are your friends? What kind of counsel do your friends give you? What are the lifestyles of your friends? Do your friends influence you to seek God when you have problems with your wife and children? Do your friends help you to become the good and godly husbandman towards your wife and children? Can you see the life of Jesus Christ reflect in the conduct of your friends? Do your friends make you gravitate toward sin rather than godliness? In Haggai chapter 1 and verse 5, the Scripture says, consider your ways (Hag.1:5).Today, you have to make the decision to examine and reconsider who you walk, stand and sit with you. You must start choosing the right company of friends who build up in righteousness, fit for the Master’s use as the good and godly man, husband and father.

As the godly husbandman, it is very important for you to consider your ways and weed out those friends who reduce you in righteousness and godliness rather than increase you.And as you take a firm decision to identify with friends that will make you to love your wife and children as Christ would and has loved the church, you will enjoy the peace of God and joy in the Holy Ghost. You will have peace toward God and toward your wife and children. You also become an example to other husbandmen, who will want to emulate your good and godly life. In you shall all the families of the earth be blessed (Gen.12:3).

Choose godly and righteous company. It is your armor to become the good and godly husbandman and a profitable vessel to God, your wife, children and in the market place of life (Matt.5:14-16).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of boldness to depart from ungodly friends.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to refuse ungodly and devilish counsel.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, order my steps to friends and relationships that will make me think, act and respond as the godly husbandman.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I am born of God and has His mind working in me to walk, sit and stand with good and godly company because that is the platform to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
