GOD KNOWS YOUR WORKS

I want to appreciate God. For some time, I have been reading the daily devotional IN TUNE WITH GOD. And every time I read, I observed that my wife also peeped to see what I am reading. I have been praying the prayers for her as I have learnt from the devotional. Recently, I noticed that she has been praying for me using the devotional as a guide.

This testimony was shared by one of the readers of the devotional, IN TUNE WITH GOD. Indeed, whatever a man sows that is what he reaps. As the head of your family, you cannot invest your spiritual resources into the lives of your wife and children and you will not be rewarded with harvest. You cannot be interceding for your wife and children and you will not get their goodwill in return. In 2Tim.2:6, the Scripture says, the husbandmen that laboureth MUST BE THE FIRST PARTAKER of the fruits (2Tim.2:6).

As the good and godly husbandman, you do not lose anything when you commit to doing the right things, rather you gain everything. It is true that sometimes your wife and children may not appreciate all your good works-your prayers, your labour of love and even giving (Lk.18:1, 1Cor.13:4-7, Jn.3:16). But I want you to know that God keeps records. And because He keeps records of your good works, very shortly, it would speak loudly in your life and in the lives of your wife and children.

As the good and godly husbandman, you must appreciate that you are first responsible to God. God made you the head of your family. He knew you were capable of acting out His instructions in the administration of your home. He is confident that you will not fail Him because He made you in His image and likeness (Gen.1:26). Infact, God empowered you to lead your wife and children. So as long as you know that you are responsible to God, He will require your stewardship of how you administer your family kingdom. It is for this reason that you must not give up in doing what is right as the good and godly man, husband and father to your wife and children (Philp.4:8).

However, for you to remain steadfast in righteousness, you need the empowerment of the Holy Ghost. In Acts 1:8, the Scripture says, but ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria and into the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8). As a spiritual leader who desires to function as the head of your family, you need supernatural enablement from the Person of the Holy Ghost. The Person of the Holy Spirit is the only Personality who can help you to think, act and stand strong in doing what God commands you to do to your wife and children from His word. So, ask Him, passionately, to empower you today and always.

Don’t stop doing the right thing. God will always reward your good works.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your Spirit to run my office well.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to function excellently as the head of my family.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, break every root of irresponsibility in my life and please make me useful to You, my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have power with God and I function like God in the administration of my family as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
