For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom.8:5-8).
Yesterday, the Person of the Holy Spirit helped the husbandman to understand that spirituality is the cure to carnality and that no husbandman overcomes the flesh by the flesh. Every husbandman who wants to have victory over the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life must continue to engage the force of the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. If you must overcome filthiness of the tongue, lying and deceit, cheating, fornication and adultery, and all forms of ungodliness, you must step up your passion for spirituality.
Regardless of whether you are the pastor of your church or founder of your ministry or even born again for long, if you don’t live by the Spirit of Christ, you will remain carnally minded. Some of the indications that you are not living by the law of the Spirit of Christ are these. You, that were once vibrant for the things of God, are now suddenly finding spiritual things irritating. You no longer have interest in prayers, word study and fellowship with their brethren. You no longer cherish godly values. You justify sin and say it doesn’t matter. You must understand that living a carnal life is risky to you and your wife and children. Carnality leads to death, both physically and spiritually.
What are some of the blessings you enjoy when you are ruled by the law of the Spirit of Christ Jesus? In Romans chapter 8 and 6, the Scriptures say, for to be carnally minded is DEATH but to be spiritually minded is LIFE and PEACE. From this verse of Scriptures, you will notice that if you are spiritually minded, you enjoy life and peace within you and between you and your wife and children. Another benefit is that you are able to see ahead and take the right decisions by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit.
Enough of living a carnal life! It is time to awake to living a spiritual life because that is the security that your wife and children need to live a triumphant life. Therefore, be spiritual. It is profiting to your life, your wife, children and the office of the husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my spirit man to be ruled by the Spirit of Your Word.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live above the influences of the flesh.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to build my spiritual capacity for the benefit of my life, wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I subject my thoughts, conduct, actions, decisions, will and emotions to the influence of the law of the Spirit of Jesus Christ because that is what gives life to me as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
