THE RIGHTEOUS HUSBANDMAN ALWAYS FLOURISHES

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.92:12, Eph.1:18-19, Ps.24:1-3, 1Cor.13:4-7, Ps.1:1-3, Rom.5:5, Philp.4:8, Eph.6:4, Jn.3:3-5, 2Cor.5:17, Ps.112:1-end

Do you know what it means to flourish as the godly husbandman? Do you think that there is a reward for doing the right thing from the Word of God to your wife and children? If you have any doubt about the value of doing what is godly and right to your wife and children, then I want you to take another look at Psalms 92 and Psalms 112, respectively.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon (Ps.92:7-12). KJV

Happy are those who fear the Lord. Yes, happy are those who delight in doing what he commands. Their children will be successful everywhere, and entire generation of godly people will be blessed……(Ps.112:1-2) NLT.

The word of God says that the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree. Now, as the head of your family and the priest over your wife and children, how do I become the righteous husbandman? You become the righteous husbandman by doing the right thing to your wife and children from the word of God.

Husbands love thy wife as Christ has loved the church and gave Himself for it (Eph.5:25).

The Scripture commands you to love your wife because it is the right thing to do. What then does it mean to love your wife as Christ has loved the Church? It means you are to be patient with your wife; you do not envy her success; you do not make her feel inferior; you do not rejoice when she fails or falls into error; you are not just thinking about yourself but much more about her and her well-being; you do not think to hurt her rather you have control over your emotions; you believe her and God’s promises for her life; you welcome her suggestion, advice and correction when she makes such and you accept them and amend your ways; you pray for her in your closet that Christ will be formed in her and that she will come to the fullness of her place in Jesus Christ (1Cor.13:4-7, Eph.1:18-19, Gal.4:19).

And now a word to you fathers. Don’t make your children angry by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction approved by the Lord (Eph.6:4) NLT.

And to your children, you are a righteous husbandman when you nurture them in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4). What this means is that you make out time to instruct and teach them the word of God, the will of God for them when it comes to their relationship with the opposite sex, their finances, health, career, business, character and eternity. You must understand that your children are from your loins. They are your seeds. Your wife only receives the seed like the earth would and incubates and she is delivered of a child (ren). So, the responsibility of imparting your children with good and godly values rest principally with you. And God will hold you accountable both for their success and failure (Gen.18:19, 1Sam.3:13). Very importantly, your children must see the life of Jesus reflected in your word and conduct.

These are the right things to do and when you do them, you will enjoy peace and quietness, health and vitality, renewal of strength and mind and favour.

God has ordained you to flourish as the good shepherd. God wants you to be the light of the Gospel to your wife and children. He wants you to be a great leader to them but you have the responsibility to do what is right because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman (Philp.4:8).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to walk in truth and righteousness.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from lies and deceitfulness.
  • Father in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the fullness of the Spirit of Jesus Christ to do Your will to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am committed to think, do and act righteously to my wife, children and in the market places of life because that is what empowers me to become the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
