THE LAW OF REPETITION (14)

Spread the love

Fear thou not, for I am with thee ……..yea I will help thee…For I thy Lord will hold your thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, and ye men of Israel, I will help thee (Is.41:10-14).

Rejoice, again I say rejoice (Philp.4:4)

LOOK AWAY FROM THEIR FAULTS

Main Scriptures: Acts 20:35

More Scriptures: 1Cor.13:6, 1Thess.5:14, Nu.13:18

As the head of the family and the spiritual leader of your home, it is very important for you to consciously look away from the faults and weakness of your wife and children. One of the tricks of the devil is to make you focus on the mistakes of your wife and children rather than their good aspects. He doesn’t want you to celebrate their strength but their failures. All he wants to achieve is to make you evaluate your flock as worthless people.

One of my spiritual mentors, Dr. Myles Munroe once said that the perfect wife that any man is looking for is in his head. This means that your wife and children are not perfect people. They are likely to make mistakes. They are likely to fail. They are likely to fall. It is your responsibility to make them what you want them to be. Praise God!

They also have some positives that you can celebrate. The more you look intently at the failings of your flock, the bigger they become and the more hatred or abandonment you develop towards them. And that is what the devil wants you to continue to do. This is what the Bible refers to as judgmental spirit. If you allow yourself to see only the bad side of their lives, you will be pushed by the devil to seek for alternatives in the brothel, beer parlour, and in the arms of another woman and even in unforgiveness.

Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a godly husband did not look at our sinfulness. While we were yet in sin, He sacrificed His life and died for you and me. He didn’t consider our weakness or failings. He nonetheless loved us and gave Himself to us. That is the character of a godly husband. You must be willing to lay down your guard of criticism about your wife and children and lift up the banner of love.

Looking away from your wife’s and children’s faults does not mean that those inadequacies do not exist. They exist. But you have chosen to travail in prayers for them so that through the help of God they can be transformed. You are a solution agent. You carry the mind of Christ working inside of you. So when your flock fails, that is not the time for you to complain and expose them. Rather, that is the time to engage the forces of the Spirit to impose the life of Christ in them.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the blood of Jesus, deliver me from every spirit of weariness and fault finding.
  • Father, empower my spirit man to be hopeful for the needed change I want to see in my wife and children.
  • Father, help me to press towards the mark of a good and godly life for my flock.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I refuse to find fault in my wife and children but rather I will travail in prayers for the needed changes I want to see in them because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
