Fear thou not, for I am with thee ……..yea I will help thee…For I thy Lord will hold your thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, and ye men of Israel, I will help thee (Is.41:10-14).
Rejoice, again I say rejoice (Philp.4:4)
FIRST GET YOUR BEAM OUT
Main Scriptures: Luke 6:39-42
More Scriptures: Ps.51:10, Ps.24:4, Job.10:6
The main text our devotional today is quite long and revealing. And it is directed to husbands who complain about the negative things or attitude that their wives display without necessarily examining their own lives. These sets of husbands are the first to judge their flocks without first considering their own character.
In verse 39 of Luke Gospel chapter 6, the Scriptures say,
And he spake a parable unto them, can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch? And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eyes, but perceive not the beam that is in thine own eyes? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, CAST OUT FIRST THE BEAM OUT OF THINE OWN EYE, AND THEM SHALT THOU SEE CLEARLY TO PULL OUT THE MOTE THAT IS IN THY BROTHER’S EYE.
From the above verses of Scripture it is obvious that before you can condemned your wife or children and stand as the judge, you must be sure that you are not doing exactly what you are accusing them of doing.
As the head of the family, you have complained that your wife and children do not give you the respect that you deserve. The question you should ask yourself is, have you shown respect to them and others? You have expressed displeasure that your wife and children use indecent and foul languages against people. Before you harass them, how graceful are the words that proceed from your mouth towards them and other people?
If you look well at your life as the spiritual leader of the home, you will just discover that the things you have complained about concerning your flock are the very things you do. God has ordained you to be a light bearer to your wife and children and by extension the world around you. You must do everything to guard the light.
Jesus speaking said you should check your life and see if you have cleansed yourself from the act you accuse your flock.Whatever you see that is wrong in the lives of your wife and children is what you must fight against in your own life. By doing so, you will be able to lead your flock gloriously.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from the spirit of self righteousness.
- Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver from the spirit of error and falsehood.
- Father, by Your Spirit, impute in me the life of Christ and let me live out His righteousness.
FAITH CONFESSION
I give myself to self examination continually because that is the pathway to becoming a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
