BE A PATTERN OF GOOD WORKS

Bible Texts: Tit.1:7-10, Col.4:6, Matt.5:13-14, Ps.24:3-4, 1Cor.9:27, 1Tim.3:1-6, Matt.5:37

Every husbandman is a leading light in his home and to his wife and children. And if you and I must make the most of our leadership as husbandmen, we must not only set good and godly examples for our wife and children to follow, we must be the example for them see.

This is why in Titus chapter 1 and verse 7 through to 10, the Bible says,

In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works, in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, sound speech, that cannot be condemned, that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you (Tit.1:7-8). There is a way God wants you to conduct yourself, relate with your wife and children. There is a way God wants you to lead yourself, your wife and children. There is a way God wants you to live your life because you are His ambassador in your home and in the lives of wife and children, who are His treasures. You must be aware of this and be conscious of the truth that you are a Christ. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect image of the good and godly husbandman says that ye are the salt of the earth ………..ye are light of the world (Matt.5:13-14).

Now as the husbandman, what are the areas God wants you to show a pattern of good works to the end that you live and continue to live as the good and godly husbandman?

In doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, sound speech……(Tit.1:7b).

From this Scripture, you can learn the pattern God commands you to show in your life and for your wife and children. God wants you to show a pattern of holiness and purity in all that you do. The Bible says who shall ascend unto the hills of the Lord? The man that hath a clean hands and a pure heart (Ps.24:3-4). God also wants you to show a pattern of gravity or self control over your appetite for food, anger, sexual desires, position of authority and power, money and other material things. The Word of God says, I discipline my body and bring it under subjection….(1Cor.9:27). God also wants you to be a pattern of honesty, saying what you mean and meaning what you say. The Scriptures say that let your yea be yea and nay be nay (Matt.5:37). Finally, God wants you to be an example of sound speech filled with grace and blessings and not cursing and insulting. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man (Col.4:6).

God has made you in His image and likeness. He has given to you Jesus Christ as the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. You must look to Jesus Christ and His word to become like Him in your life and to your wife and children because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for setting a pattern of bad works in my life and for my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, show to me from Your word, the patterns You want me to set in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to set and live a pattern of good works in my life and for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I set a pattern of good works from the Word of God for my life and for my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, fight all our battles for us and give us supernatural victories
