YOU HAVE AUTHORITY AND YOU ARE IN COMMAND

Bible Texts: Acts 27:22-24, Heb.11:1-3, Ezk.2:2, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.8:1, Lk.18:1, Jn.3:4-8, Jn.14:26, Rom.10:10

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer, for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am and whom I serve, saying fear not Paul…. (Acts 27:22-24).

The Scripture in Acts chapter 27 and verses 22 through to 24 is about Apostle Paul and the people with him on a journey. During their voyage on water, there were storms that threatened to destroy and capsize their ship. The people with Apostle Paul were sore afraid because of the threats of the strong wild winds hitting hard on their ship. But their leader, Apostle Paul did something remarkable which you and I must continue to do as we lead our wife and children. The leader says, I encourage you to be of good cheer because no one will loss his or her life in this journey because God is with me. That became their testimony. They landed safely and not one person was lost.

As the good and godly husbandman, you have a responsibility to encourage your wife and children when they are confronted with discouragement or faced with things or actions of people that seem to threaten them. Just like Paul gave assurance to the people with him by speaking the word of hope, you must give confidence, hope and faith to your wife and children in their journeys of life. Your wife and children should count on your support.

However, for you to speak with authority, power and faith to the circumstances or threats to your home and the lives of your wife and children and seeing your declarations come to pass, you must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul was a man who had a deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ. He loved God and the promotion of His kingdom on earth (2Cor.5:17, Jn.3:3-8).

You must also have the word of God in your heart and believe in it. Apostle Paul says, For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am and whom I serve (Acts 27:23). You must have a personal encounter with the word of God by the spirit of truth and revelation which empowers your faith and makes you to speak with authority and power to the negative circumstances and threats around your life and the lives of your wife and children. The word of God is the raw material you require to build your faith. And the Holy Ghost empowers the word of faith in your life. So, you must work with the Person of the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the spirit behind the word (Ezk.2:2).

Your home can be likened to the ship Paul was in with the people and your wife and children can also be likened to the people with Apostle Paul. And just like Paul rose up to the storms that threatened to destroy them and won, you can also take your place as the husbandman and quiet the threats of satan, sin and the world in your life and in the lives of your wife and children. That is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of faith for victory.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of truth and revelation of Your word.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, honour Your words as I declare them over the negative circumstances of life that is threatening.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have power with God by His word, and by faith I declare hope, faith and courage to my life and the lives of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
