Bible Texts: Ps.37:36-37, Gen.17:1, Eph.6:4, Matt.22:37, Gen.18:19, Eph.5:25, 1Cor.14:20, 1Cor.13:11, Col.3:19
Yet he passed away, and lo, he was not, yea, I sought him but he could not be found. MARK THE PERFECT MAN, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace (Ps.37:37). The will of God for you as the good and godly husbandman is to grow unto maturity. God wants you to stop those childish attitudes and embrace responsibilities that make you matured for leadership.
Let us see what God said to Abraham in Genesis chapter 17. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the Almighty God, WALK BEFORE ME AND BE THOU PERFECT. (Gen.17:1). The perfection here is talking about maturity, which has nothing to do with age or status but taking responsibility to do what is right and pleasing unto God. It is not a sign of maturity for you to abuse your wife and children emotionally and physically. It doesn’t matter the anointing upon your life or the miracles, signs and wonders that God performs through you, if you to keep malice against your wife and children and you are bitter towards them, you are not matured (1Cor.14:20).
Loving your wife as Christ has loved the Church and not being bitter towards her is a mark of maturity (Col.3:19). It is the right action to take. Husbands, love thy wife as Christ has loved the church and gave himself to it (Eph.5:25). It adds colour and honour to you. Secondly, nurturing your children in the way and admonition of the Lord is also the mark of the matured shepherd (Eph.6:4). You are also doing what is righteous in the sight of God and you will be rewarded richly with peace, respect, honour and loyalty from your wife and children.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child but when I became a man, I put away childish things (1Cor.13:11). As the husbandman, you must stop those actions that you put out to your wife, children and in the market place of life that do not represent what Jesus Christ would do. You must start behaving like Jesus Christ in your thought, action and relationship with your wife and children.
Brethren, be not children in understanding, howbeit in malice, be ye children, but in understanding be men (1Cor.14:20).
But how do I become the perfect husbandman?
