Bible Texts: 2Tim.2:6-7, 1Tim.5:8, Heb.12:2, Ps.1:3, Philp.2:13, Acts 1:1, Rom.12:1-2, Eph.6:4, Deut.6:6-7, Eph.5:25-28, Jn.6:63, Gal.2:13, Ps.1:1-2, Jos.1:6-8
Yesterday, we took the snap shot of an athlete and discovered that the husbandman must live like the good athlete if he wants to become good and godly. He must be disciplined with his appetite for food, sex, power, position and must manage his time and conduct himself like a professional. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be available for you to the end that you develop into the good and godly husbandman and be a worthy vessel to God and a blessing to yourself, wife, children and the market place of life, in Jesus name. Amen.
Today, let’s return to the studio and take the 4th snapshot.
The 4th photoshot of the husbandman is A FARMER. One very important characteristic of a farmer is that he is a hard worker. He has understanding of times and seasons (Ecc.3:1-2). He knows when to sow his seed in his farm and when to harvest. Even when the sun is scorching, the farmer still goes to the farm to weed and do all that is necessary for a good result. He works hard at his farm to ensure a bountiful harvest both for himself, his family and those around him. That is who you are. You are the farmer-a diligent and hard worker.
The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops. Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things (2Tim.2:6-7) NKJV
As the good and godly husbandman, you must engage your mind, soul and body to work in order to have something to give to yourself, your wife, children and others around you. Your worth is in your ability and capacity to provide for your family. In 1st Timothy chapter 5, the Bible says this. But if anyone does not provide for his own and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever (1Tim.5:8).
It doesn’t matter how much your wife earn, you must never depend on her income. You must go out there and work and earn income and give to her, however small it may be. Don’t hold back from providing for your household. It doesn’t fit your personality as the good and godly husbandman.
And as you engage your mind and hand to work, God will make you productive. The Scripture says this and it should motivate you to function as the good farmer. And whatever he does shall prosper (Ps.1:3b). You must not despise any decent and legitimate work. It may not be the kind of work that fits your profile but just get to work while trusting God for a much bigger and best-fit job.
Arise today! Get out of your comfort zone. Take that step of faith. Get to work and like that farmer, return with your harvest for the enjoyment of yourself, wife, children and those around you.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for making me a productive farmer.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to exercise myself to all the demands of the good and godly husbandman.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to opportunities and prosper the work of my hands.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am the good farmer and by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, I engage my mind, soul and body for a productive work so that I can provide for myself, wife, children and those around me because that is one of demands of my calling as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
