Praise God! The picture frame of the husbandman is beginning to take shape in the past 4 days. I am sure you can now see who you are and what makes you the good and godly husbandman.
Let us continue our snapshot today. The picture has been taken, and it came out thus: A VESSEL. A vessel is a container, a carrier or a channel. That is who you are.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honour and some for dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. Flee also youthful lusts but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart (1Tim.2:20-22)NKJV
As the husbandman, you are a vessel made of gold and silver. You are also a vessel made for honour and not dishonour. What this means is that your thought, action, conduct and reactions to God, your wife, children and in the marketplace must reflect the nature of Jesus Christ. This is why the Bible commands your light to shine before men that they may glorify your Father in heaven (Matt.5:14-16).
Now, what should you pursue in order to be and remain a vessel fit for Jesus’s use?
But pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart (1Tim.2:23b).
As the good and godly husbandman, you must pursue what is right from the perspective of the Word of God. You must also walk by faith and not by sight (Heb.11:1,6). You must believe in God. You must pursue the agape kind of love towards your wife and children (1Cor.13:4-8, Rom.5:5, Col.3:19, Eph.6:4). And finally, you must pursue peace with all men beginning with your wife and children.
You are the representative of God in your family-fold. You are the ambassador of Jesus Christ. You are the express image of the good and godly man, husband and father. You are the Bible your wife and children and the world should read about the love of Christ. Therefore, God wants you to demonstrate His nature and character in all that you do and say. Make your life count!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for making me a vessel of honour.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pursue after righteousness, peace and faith.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me fit for Your use and let my life bring glory to Your name.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a vessel of honour and fit for the Master use as I pursue after righteousness, peace and faith because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
