MAKE YOURSELF THE EXAMPLE

The best way to make yourself the husbandman of honour, and also a leader of influence as you lead your life and your wife and children is to be the example of what you teach and say. As the husbandman, it is very important that you know that what you do and say is as important as what you teach or expect from your wife and children.

Consider the book of 2^nd Thessalonians chapter 3 and verses 6 through to 9.

Now we command you, brethren in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourself from every brother that walketh disorderly and not after the tradition which he received. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us, for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you. Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought, but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you. Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us (2Thess.3:6-9)

As the husbandman, you are the head and you have authority. But the authority you have, which has been given to you by God, is to make yourself the good and godly example for your wife and children to follow. The power is not to oppress them or think you can behave disorderly or act contrary to what you teach. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman was an example of what He preached.

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach (Acts 1:1).

The perfect will of God for you is to be His light in your home, to your wife, children and in the market place (Matt.5:14-16). God wants you to be the example of what He has said in the Bible about the good and godly man, husband and father.

But how do I represent Jesus Christ and be the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman to my wife, children and in the market place?

The first step is for you to have and rededicate your life in and to Jesus Christ. You must know the example you want to be before you can become the example. And Jesus Christ is your perfect example (Heb.12:2). So, as you have a personal relationship with Him, He reveals Himself to you and He becomes the picture frame you want to be like.

Secondly, you must give attention to studying the word of God and other anointed materials. This is because the more you study the more you increase in the knowledge of who God wants you to be (Pro.4:20-27, Jn.8:32). The word of God says, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection (Philp.3:10).

Thirdly, you must engage the power of prayer with fasting to receive power to act as the word of God has commanded (Mk.9:29, Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13, Jn.15:5). This is because the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. It is only through the power of God you can both act and teach those things that make you the example of the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being an ungodly example of Your kingdom, my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal more of Yourself to me through Jesus Christ and by Your word.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to be the good and godly example of the husbandman.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have received power from God to be like Jesus Christ in all that I do and say because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
