YOU ARE THE KEEPER OF THE SHEEP

Bible Texts: Mark 3:23-27, Jn.10:1-3, Gen.2:14, Gen.4:1-2, Deut.6:7-8, 1Sam.8:1-7, Num.6:20-22, 1Tim.3:1-5, 1Chro.19:9, Gen.3:4-10, Acts 5:1-6, 1Sam.3:12-13, Eph.6:4

As the husbandman, you are the shepherd and keeper of the sheep of God in your sheepfold, and the sheep are your wife and children and the sheepfold is your family. If your family succeeds it is your gain. If it fails, it is your fault. Not your parents, family members, friends, pastor or even your wife and children will be held responsible for the success or failure of your sheep and sheepfold.

That is why God calls you the keeper of the fold (Jn.10:1-4).

And he called them unto him and said unto them in parables, how can satan cast out satan? And if a KINGDOM be divided against itself, that KINGDOM cannot stand. And if a HOUSE be divided against itself, that HOUSE cannot stand. And if satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. NO MAN CAN ENTER INTO A STRONG MAN’S HOUSE, AND SPOIL HIS GOODS, EXCEPT HE WILL FIRST BIND THE STRONG MAN, AND THEN HE WILL SPOIL HIS HOUSE (Mk.3:23-27).

You have taken responsibility for the life of your wife when her parents gave her hand in marriage to you. You have also become responsible for your children the day God gave your wife conception through you. So, from the Scriptures above, particularly the 27^th verse, you will discover that as the shepherd of the family, you are the strong man of your home. And no intruder has the right to enter your house, except you permit it.

As the husbandman God has called unto greater responsibilities- to keep and secure your wife and children against the devil, sin and the world. God has entrusted into your hands the lives of your wife and children. If anything happens to them, God will hold you accountable, just the same way he held the first husbandman, Adam, accountable for the failure of his wife and family in Genesis chapter 3 and verse 9.

Sadly, many husbandmen have left their gates wide open for the enemy to come through and that has accounted for the increasing cases of wayward and irresponsible families around the world today, particularly Christian families. Many shepherds cannot explain what has happened to their wives and children. They sense that their sheep and sheepfold have derailed but cannot place their hands on the root cause.

This is why keeping the gate shut against the torrent of evil is not a function of your position or title. It is knowing who you are as revealed by the word of God and taking responsibility by your action.

Therefore, if you don’t wake up to keep watch over your sheep and sheepfold, you will sooner than later realize that your wife and children have turned into uncontrollable elements that may cause you pains and heart ache in the future.

Now is the time to keep your family fold secured. Now is the time to awake and take your rightful position as the shepherd of the sheep and the strong man at the gate.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, drive out every intruder that has gained access into my home.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to function as the keeper of my fold.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to stand firmly at the gate and keep satan, sin and the influences of the world away from my sheep and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am empowered by the Spirit of God to keep watch over my family fold because that is what empowers me to function as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
