THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF THE HUSBANDMAN (3)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Rom.8:9, Jn.5:16-18, Pro.22:9, Acts 20:34, Eph.4:28, Deut.28:12, Ps.1:3, 1Tim.5:8, Is.41:18, 2Thess.3:10, Pro.19:15, Pro.20:13

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST , he is none of his (Rom.8:9).

THE SPIRIT OF WORK

Another Spirit of Christ you have in you is the spirit of working, engaging your hands and mind to earn income so that you can provide for yourself and for your wife, children and those around you that have needs.

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I WORK (Jn.5:17).

Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman works. God, our heavenly Father works. And you are made in the image and likeness of God, so you have no excuse or reason to be lazy.

Laziness brings curses. It defeats the purpose of the office of the husbandman and does not reflect the nature of Christ. Working with your hands and mind with results to show is not shameful. No matter how much your wife earns, you must work with your mind and hands to be the first provider in your home. God saw your wife before He commanded you in First Timothy chapter 5 and verse 8 to provide for your own household (1Tim.5:8). He did not say 50-50 or 70-30 between you and your wife. He says the whole responsibility of providing for your household is squarely yours, irrespective of where your wife works and what she earns. Within your earnings, give to God, as tithe, give to your wife for being your helper, give for the housekeep, give for your children’s education, healthcare, shelter, and sow into the lives of others, however small it may be. If and when you are transparent with what earn and give, God will open more opportunities for you to earn more and motivate your wife to support you, financially (Is.41.18)

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Ps.1:3)

God has promised to make you succeed in what you do for a living. God is committed to making you productive in your work, business or endeavour because He knows you have the spirit of work in you. Therefore, you have the responsibility to activate this spirit by doing something right and honourable with your hands and mind.

If you must command the respect and honour of your wife and children, you must be diligent. You must work. Don’t hide under the cover of your wife’s finances. Get out of your comfort zone and give godly meaning to your position as the good and godly husbandman. God will only bless the work of your hands (Deut.28:12).

But what is diligence? Diligence means showing care and effort in your work or duties. Don’t join the rising crop of irresponsible husbandmen who are living off their wives, while they go around town like big boys. It is a shame, my fellow husbandman.

I was told of a sad story about a husbandman and his wife. The wife works in a good organization. She bought a car and gave it to her husbandman since she spent most of her time in the office. She only asked the husbandman to assist her by coming to pick her on his way home from his wandering adventures. He refused. Most times she came home with public transport. What do you call that? An irresponsible and failed husbandman! That is not the perfect will of God for the husbandman.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty. Open thine eyes and thou shalt be satisfied with bread (Pro.20:13)

Get angry with laziness and excuses. Move out and work because there is dignity in labour.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of the philosophies of men and the rudiments of this world.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to work with my hands and mind with all diligence.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open greater doors of opportunities for me and bless the work of my hands.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the newness of life in Christ and I work with my hands and mind, bringing forth fruits to give to my wife, children, others and myself because there is dignity in labour and it is my hallmark as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
