Few weeks ago, I was invited to minister at a Minister’s Conference where I taught on the place of the husbandman in his marriage. After the ministration, pastors asked questions. And one of the points one of the pastors made suggested that the woman, that is the wife, is the problem of the husbandman. I have also read and heard many husbandmen who have concluded that their wife is a witch and she rocked the family. This tag on your wife or children, if you are one of those husbandmen, is false. It is this wrong perception the Person of the Holy Spirit wants to correct today so that the husbandman does not see his wife and children as his enemy.
But who then is the enemy of the husbandman?
The devil has come but to steal, to kill and to destroy (Jn.10:10)
It is satan, sin and the world. These three (3) forces are responsible for the challenges in your sheepfold.
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Eph.2:2)
The misbehavior of your wife or children is rooted in the operation of the devil. Satan is the person instigating and influencing them to do the things that you don’t like. It is the works of the flesh that influence your wife or children to speak reproachfully and disrespectfully to you. A force higher than them is working the wind of disobedience. Whatever you notice about your wife and children that is contrary to what God expects from them, is coming from satan, sin and the world. It is spiritual corruption.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph.6:12)
As the husbandman, you must understand that you are not fighting flesh and blood. What you are contending with as you lead yourself, wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ are principalities and powers and rulers of darkness in high places.
So, how do I contend with the forces influencing my wife and children unto disobedience?
You use the whole armor of God.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Eph.6:10-11)
The whole armor of God are these. Firstly, you must have a personal relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ, by repenting of your sins, asking Him to forgive you and inviting Him into your life (Jn.3:3-7, 2Cor.5:17). Secondly, you must give attention to studying the word of God to discover His perfect plans and purposes for your wife and children (2Tim.2:15). When you know what God has said concerning them, you can easily tell when they have missed the ways. Thirdly, you now use the word of God as your weapon of warfare as you pray for yourself and intercede for them Gal.4:19). Fourthly, you engage the power of faith in God and His word, rooted in hope (Heb.11:2, Rom.4:17-21). Fifthly, you engage the power of confessing God’s words in the direction of your life, wife, children and circumstances (Rom.10:10). Finally, you engage the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, by pleading His blood over your life, wife, children and the challenges (Heb.12:24, Rev.12:11).
Therefore, the next time your wife and child(ren) misbehave, bind the operations of the devil, sin and the world and not curse your wife and children.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I take authority and cast out the influence of satan, sin and the world in the lives of my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I exercise the power in Jesus Christ over every works of ungodliness in the lives of my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I input the spirit of righteousness and godliness into the lives of my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am the husbandman of power and authority and I exercise God’s power to overcome the influences of satan, sin and the world working disobedience in the lives of my wife and children; Now, I am bringing them into the fullness of God’s perfect will for them because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
