COMMAND ORDER IN YOUR LIFE AND SHEEPFOLD

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.1:1-3, Gen.18:19, Gen.17:1-3, 1Cor.11:30-34, Col.1:19, Heb.11:3, 2Cor.7:1, Eph.4:26, Pro.29:15, Eph.6:4, Mk.9:29, Matt.6:22, 1Tim.3:4-5, Eph.5:25-29, 2Cor.10:5, Col.3:19

Just when I was about to start writing the devotion for today, my Teacher and the Person of the Holy Spirit, directed me to remind every husbandman that he must command order in his life, the lives of his wife, children and in his sheepfold. The first action God took in creation was to create order (Gen.1:1-3). Thereafter, creation began to take shape (Gen.1:3-16).

And so, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, I am sharing the teaching on orderliness of 2017. I pray the Spirit behind the word shall gain root in your heart and bear fruits in your life to the end that you become the good and godly husbandman, in word and in deed, in Jesus name. Amen.

For I know him, that he will command his children and his HOUSEHOLD after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him (Gen.18:19).

God wants to bless you as the husbandman and the head of your family. God wants to make you a successful leader; leading your wife and children in the way of the Lord. God wants to prosper your office as the head of the family. But He wants you to put your house in order before He releases His blessings.

Remember the contest between Prophet Elijah and the 400 prophets of Baal. They wanted to test who was the real god. Was it the god of Baal or the God of Israel? It was after Prophet Elijah set the altar in order that the fire came down from heaven and consumed the sacrifice, and established that the God of Israel is the true God.

As the head of your family, orderliness is a necessary target you must set in place in your family government. Where there is no order, there will be chaos. And where there is chaos, there will not be progress. You must appreciate your position in your family-you are their head, the spiritual leader, kingdom administrator, governor, king and lord. So the success or failure of your family government depends on how much order you have put in place at home.

For instance, it is disorderly when you stir up strife and bitterness in the hearts of your children against their mother or vice versa (Eph.4:26, 1Cor.13:4-8, Col.3:19, Eph.5:25-29). It is disorderliness when your children are on a free fall, doing things without limitation and control (Eph.6:4, Pro.29:15, 1Tim.3:4-5, 2Cor.10:5). Any driver who drives his car disorderly and without control-having no effective braking system and acceleration devices will crash with the passengers on board.

However, for you to set your house in order, you must first set your own life in order by doing those things that please the Lord Jesus both in words and in your action and conduct. Jesus speaking said that we must first remove the plank in our eyes before we start talking about removing the speck in another person’s eyes. In 2nd Corinthians chapter 7 and verse 1, the Scripture talks about two aspects of our personal life that must be put in order. Our inward life and our outward life-that is what we think and what we do.

Secondly, you must walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing (Col.1:19). You must also engage your wife in healthy discussion in developing the ground rules, using the Bible as the foundation (Jn.5:39). Thirdly, you must engage the weapon of praise, prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). And finally, you must walk in faith, because without faith it is impossible for you to please God (Heb.11:1-6). You must demonstrate your trust in God and His capacity to perform.

Stay focused and do not be discouraged or have fear or doubt as you lead your life and your wife and children in the path of orderliness and honour (Matt.6:22).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to set my life and house in order, after Your rules and principles.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to bring the culture of the kingdom of heaven into my sheepfold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my faith to believe You and please make our lives to be in tune with Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take responsibility to set my life and that of my household in the ways of the Lord because that is what gives value to my headship as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
