BE ON THE WATCHTOWER AND BUILD

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jer.31:27-28, Eph.6:4, Philp.2:13, Lk.18:1, 1Pet.3:7, Pro.18:22, Pro.17:6, 1Tim.5:17, Eph.5:25-29, Gal.4:19, Mk.9:29, Jn.15:5

By the grace of God, our focus is the study of Jeremiah chapter 31. I came across the passage of the Bible by the leading of the Person of the Holy Spirit and that encounter has helped me to seek continuously the desire to be the good and godly husbandman. I am confident in God that as you give attention to the word of God, you will also be helped by the Holy Spirit to become the best of God to your wife and children.

We have established from Scriptures that the husbandman is the watchman over his wife, children and home (Jn.10:1-3). But sometimes the husbandman may have challenges with them in the course of leading. However, he must not seek for alternatives outside either in the beer parlour, in the arm of another woman, drugs or any other unhealthy engagements. Rather, the husbandman must seek to repair what is damaged and build up what is broken between himself and his wife and children (Mal.2:14, Eph.6:4, Col.3:19).

That is what God did in Jeremiah chapter 31 and verse 10. He watched over the challenges the people of Israel had and was not pleased with them. He chose to build them up rather than destroy them

Behold the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast. And it shall come to pass that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to breakdown and to throw down and to destroy and to afflict. So I WILL WATCH OVER THEM TO BUILD AND PLANT, saith the Lord (Jer.31:27-28)

God was unhappy with the people of Israel and Judah. He took the place of a watchman with the purpose of building His people up in the right ways again. God had a rethink, so you should. He reversed His anger against them in verse 28b of Jeremiah chapter 31. The Bible says, so will I watch over them to BUILD and to PLANT, saith the LORD.

However for you to watch to build, you need the grace and help of God (Jn.15:5). In Philippians 2:13, the Scripture says, for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philp.2:13). It pleases God when you watch over your wife and children and build them up. So when you connect to God in prayers, He makes His help available for you.

Secondly, you also need to seek for and relate with godly mentors. This relationship will help in your walk to becoming the good and godly man, husband and father.

When you watch for the purpose of building a good and godly life for yourself and in your relationships with your wife and children, God will honour you (1Tim.5:17). You will also enjoy great favour from God and from your wife (Pro.18:22). Your prayers will not be hindered (1Pet.3:7). You also will enjoy the glory of your children (Pro.17:6).

God does not take pleasure in the destruction of your family. It hurts Him when your sheepfold disintegrates. God enjoys seeing you and your wife and children living and walking in harmony. This is why you must watch with all watchfulness and seek His help to keep and build your sheepfold. That is your greatest assignment as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to build a strong and vibrant family fold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver my family from the power of divorce and separation.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to plant good seeds into the lives of my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am persuaded by grace to secure my sheepfold and to build my wife and children in good pleasures because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
