PLANT THE SEED OF THE WORD OF GOD

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Heb.4:12-14, Gen.8:22, Lk.8:11, Jn.5:39, Ps.119:105, Pro.4:20-23, Ps.12:6, 2Pet.1:7, Jas.3:7, Rev.12:10, Jn.5:39, Job 14:14, Job 6:25

While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Gen.8:22) KJV

I have come to discover two very important lessons of life. The first is that life will never give you what you want but what you demand. The second is that life responds to seed time and harvest. If you want a harvest, sow a seed and that is why today you and I are encouraged to plant the seed of God’s word in our lives and as we lead our wife and children.

As the husbandman, if you desire to reap good and godly harvest in your life and the lives of your wife and children, you have the responsibility to plant the word of God because God’s words are like seeds (Lk.8:4-11, Jn.9:4). The word of God is the most powerful seed you can plant that will yield the desired results you want as the good and godly man, husband and father.

But why should I plant the word of God into my life and in my relationship with my wife and children?

For the word of God is quick and powerful……(Heb.4:12)

The word of God is powerful. The word of God is more potent to bring good and godly changes in your life and the lives of your wife and children than your money, material or fame. Regardless of the weakness, failures and failings of your wife and children and the personal struggles you are going through, God’s word can give you victory. If you have a wife who is disrespectful, dishonest and not hospitable, not submissive or children who are rebellious, immoral and undisciplined, you can recover their dignity and honour by the word of God. Keeping malice with them or assaulting them emotionally and physically will not change them. Only the word of God can.

How forceful are right words (Job 6:25).

You can chase away ungodly influences from and around your life and the lives of your wife and children if you can engage the force of the word of God.

For you to plant the word of God and reap the benefit of what the word of God will do, you must do the following.

Firstly, you must trust the word of God to be true, powerful and alive. This is because what you don’t trust, you cannot follow. Two Scriptures are important here. Search the Scriptures, for in it ye think ye have life (Jn.5:39). And the other is, the word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps.119:105). Secondly, you must have faith in God and His word that it can do whatsoever it says and can reframe any life no matter how bad or worse that life may be (Heb.11:2).

Thirdly, you must be consistent in sowing and praying the word into your life and the lives of your wife and children. A lot of the times, you are tempted to be discouraged with the results you see despite the word of God you have believed. Please, don’t give up on the word of God and the positive changes you have prayed for. Job, the good and godly husbandman like you and I, made this bold declaration about holding unto the word of God. If a man die shall he live again? All the days of my appointed will I wait till my change come (Job 14:14).

Finally, you must continue to declare the word and counsel of God over your life and the lives of your wife and children, notwithstanding anything contrary. For with the heart man believeth but with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Rom.10:10). You must not allow satan, sin and the world to drown your faith in the word of God.

Plant the word of God. It is a seed that brings peace, joy, health, unending victories and soundness of mind. Halleluyah! The word of God lives forever.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to sow right words into my life and the lives of my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, uproot every ungodly seed I have planted in their lives in time past.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to hold onto Your word and let it yield godly fruits.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have decided to start planting the word of God in my life and in the lives of my wife and children as I lead them because that is what builds me up and keep me going in my journey as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
