GOD HAS SENT YOU TO SAVE THEM

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jn.3:14-17, Jn.8:11, Jn.14:18, Jn.16:24, Eph.5:25, Ps.23:1-4, Jn.10:10, Jn.10:29, Heb.11:33, Lk.10:19

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. (Jn.3:17)

Jesus Christ is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. God sent Him to this world to save mankind from satan and sin. The Bible describes Him as the Bridegroom. So whatever Jesus Christ is to the church is what you are to your wife and children (Eph.5:23-25). The coming of Jesus Christ brought joy to the world and salvation to all men. And because you represent His person as the bridegroom, God expects you to bring joy, hope, faith, courage and happiness into the lives of your wife and children.

The Scripture has this to say in John’s gospel chapter 10.

I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10)

Jesus Christ is a burden lifter, so are you to your wife and children. You are to lift them up and not keep them down. You are to ease the burden they carry and not multiply it. You are an instrument of peace and righteousness and not an agent of destruction and ungodliness. God wants you to lead your wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord so that they become the seeds that the Lord has blessed (Jos.24:15, Ps.61:9). You are the shining light in their lives (Gen.12:2-3).

As the good and godly husbandman, I want you to examine yourself and for a moment, consider your ways. Have you been a blessing to your wife and children or a burden? Have you added value to their lives or reduced them? Are they worse off with you or better off without you? As the husbandman, you must understand that you are the spiritual covering over your wife and children and home. You must demonstrate that they are safe with you and secured from the influences of satan, sin and the world.

But how do I become a savior for my wife and children?

The first step is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by accepting Him into your life as your Lord and personal savior (Jn.3:3-6). Secondly, you must engage the power of fasting and prayers (Mk.9:29). This will help you develop the spiritual capacity and authority to subdue whatever force may be threatening to come against your relationship with your wife and children. For I have given your authority, to trample on snakes and scorpion and to overcome all the powers of the enemy…..(Lk.10:19). Thirdly, you must exercise faith in God and His word. God’s word is the raw material you require to build your faith for the protection of your wife and children. Through faith, they subdued the mouth of lions….(Heb.11:33). Finally, you must continue to declare the whole counsel of the Lord over your wife and children and never give in to anything that is contrary to the promises of God for them (Rom.10:10).

God has brought you into the lives of your wife and children for good. God sent you to them as a saviour. You have the responsibility of ensuring that they are safe with you and that you are a blessing and not a burden to them. That is your heritage as the good and godly man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to be the good shepherd to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to become a godly mentor to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a profitable vessel to you and to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am the covering over my wife and children and I am committed to becoming a blessing and not a burden to them because that is my heritage as the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
