GRACE LEADS TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND NOT SIN

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Rom.2:3-6, Rom.6:1-2, Jn.3:16, Ps.15:1-4, Ps.24:1-3, Ps.51:10, Rom.12:21, 2Cor.5:17

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forebearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God. Who will render to every man according to his deed. (Rom.2:4-6)

One of satan’s tricks is that he makes you to think and accept that you can continue in sin and be rest assured that the grace of God would provide cover for you. And for this reason, you find so many husbandmen drown in drug addiction, adultery, murder, theft, lies, cunningness, and all forms of ungodly lifestyles. And they tell you it doesn’t matter; that we are living in the time of grace.

But the word of God in Romans chapter 2 wants you and I to think differently.

It says,

you must not “despise the riches of God’s goodness and longsuffering and still be living in sin. Rather, the goodness and grace of God is to lead you to repentance (Rom.2:3)

As the good and godly husbandman who is in pursuit of a godly life in a way that it will impact your wife and children for Jesus Christ and His kingdom, you must understand that the grace of God leads to living a righteous life and not a license to living sinful life. But in case you have used the grace as a reason for your sinful life, you can go to God and ask Him to forgive you of all your sins.

The Scripture has this to say.

Come boldly to throne of grace that you may obtain mercy and find grace in times of need (Heb.4:16)

And Jesus speaking said,

Come to me all ye that labour and a heavy laden and I will give you rest (Matt.11:28)

As the good and godly husbandman, you can escape from those ungodly lifestyles and find rest in Jesus Christ.

But for you use the grace of God to live a life or righteousness, you must be committed to three very important responsibilities.

The first is that you must recognize that God hates sin and not you. And as the son who wants to please his father, you must do those things please God. The second is for you to resist sin by the mystery of the blood of Jesus and the word of God. Resist steadfastly (1Pet.5:9). And, overcome the works of the devil by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimony (Rev.12:10). The third step is for you to surrender your will, emotions and decisions deliberately to the authority of the Holy Spirit. You can do this by declaring His Lordship over your life by always asking Him to lead you and teach you the things you need to know (Acts 10:32-36, Jn.14:26).

As you take these practical steps, you will become a valuable asset to God, your wife, children and in the market place bringing glory to God (Matt.5:14-16).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me of all my sins both those that I know of and those I do not know.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every satanic deception and addiction holding me captive.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the Spirit of holiness and make my life a living sacrifice, pleasing, holy and acceptable to You.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am empowered by the grace and Spirit of holiness and I walk in righteousness and do only those things that please God, bringing glory to His name because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
