BLESSED ARE THE MEEK IN HEART

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.15:1-5, Col.3:19, Eph.4:31, Jn.15:1-5, 1Pet.5:6, Jn.14:26, Jas.4:10, Rom.12:1-3, Heb.12:2, Rom.12:21, Rom.5:5, Matt.5:5, Pro.4:18, 2Tim.2:15

We thank God for bringing you and I to see the last day in the month of June and first half of the year 2023. To God alone we give all the glory. However, it is important for you and I to examine ourselves and one area we need to consider is humility.

The perfect will of God for you is to learn and continue to grow in learning until you attain maturity as the good and godly husbandman (Pro.4:18, 2Tim.2:15). But until you are broken, that is open to accepting your mistakes and committing to take correction, you will never attain the fullness of the potential God has deposited inside you as the good and godly man, husband and father. That is why you and I must be humble in heart and demonstrate humility in all that we say or do like Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth (Matt.5:5)

As the husbandman, do you receive the correction and admonition from God and His word with gladness of heart or you resist reproof? Do you also receive correction from your wife and children with joy and with full responsibility or you become offended when they correct you? I want to encourage you not to take offence when your wife or children correct you because God can speak to you through them (Ps.8:2).

Humility is an important requirement for you to function as the good and godly husbandman. God wants a humble husbandman and He resists the proud. It is this understanding David had that he prayed this prayer in Psalms chapter 51 and verse 10 after he had fallen into error.

Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a right spirit within me. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, O God thou wilt not despise. (Ps.51:10, 17)

God is more interested in the humility of your heart more than your sacrifices because your brokenness gives Him the opportunity to correct and mould you so that you can become like Him to your wife and children and the world.

So how do I become humble and not be bitter towards God and His corrections and towards my wife and children when they advice and correct me?

The first step is for you to make Jesus Christ the Lord over your life and this includes your spirit, soul, body, finances, relationships, emotions, and will. In Acts chapter 10, the Bible says the word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: HE IS LORD OF ALL (Acts 10:36). When Jesus Christ becomes the Lord over all that you have and know, it becomes easier for you to accept His corrections and the corrections of your wife and children because you know you own nothing but everything belongs to God.

The second step is for you to pray to God to break the spirit of pride in you and stir up the power of humility by His word in your mind. The Scripture has this to say. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ (1Cor.2:16).

Thirdly, you must daily contend against the pride of life with the blood of Jesus and the weapon of the word of God. You must allow the word of God to guide your decisions and action (Rev.12:10-11, Jn.5:39).

And as you learn to be humble in heart and remain so in all that you do, God will elevate you and make you the good and godly husbandman to your wife and children (Matt.5:5).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I surrender my all to You and hold back nothing.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the pride of life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of humility and help me to acknowledge my mistakes and receive corrections with gladness of heart.

FAITH CONFESSION

I surrender my all at the feet of Jesus Christ, and I receive the grace to receive and act on the counsel and corrections from God’s word and others because I am committed to become the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
