I AM THE DOOR OF THE SHEEP

Yesterday, while in church, I came across this verse of Scripture and immediately the Person of the Holy Spirit stirred up a new thinking in me and that is what I want to share with you today.

Jesus Christ says these words, “I am the door of the sheep (Jn.10:7)”. This is a statement of authority and responsibility. He understood His position and purpose. He knew what He was designed and ordained to be while on earth. So, he spoke authoritatively about who He is and represents. And that is the position God wants you to take and the mentality you must have from this moment. You have left lots things to chance, resulting in satan, sin and the world stealing your peace, joy and happiness. Today, you must stand like Jesus Christ stood and declare before satan that you are now the door of the sheep.

But what does it mean when I am the door of the sheep?

It means that you are the access to the sheep and the sheepfold. Now, the sheep represents your wife and children and the sheepfold represents your home. Just like a typical door you find in any place, until the door is open you cannot go into the building or house and access what you want or need to see. So, it is with you.

Jesus Christ is the door and He handed over the access key to you when He left the earth. As my Father hath sent me, so I sent I you (Jn.20:21). You are the ambassador of Christ. You are like Him because you are seated together with Him in the heavenlies. He says He is the door of the sheep, so you are (Eph.5:25).

As the access to your home, your wife and children, you decide what and who is allowed to pass to them. You determine what kind of influence is permitted in your home and their lives. The times we are in are becoming more challenging than ever. Satan, sin and the world are trying to steal, kill and destroy the beauty, glory and godly principles of the sheep and sheepfold (Jn.10:10). Influences and lifestyles that are contrary to biblical principles are beginning to gain root in our homes. You and I must not allow this ungodliness to continue. We must rise up and take our place in Christ. We must use the principles in the word of God to determine who and what gets to our sheep and sheepfold.

For you to be an effective door, you must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. You must not only born again, you must be in Christ by the conduct of your life, ways, action and thoughts (Jn.3:2-3, 2Cor.5:17). You must also give yourself to studying the word of God as a life-giving lifestyle (Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15). The more you give attention to the study of the word of God, the more information and knowledge you have about what is good and godly and what is not. And this helps you to determine what and who must be allowed to pass through to your wife, children and home (Philp.4:8). Finally, you must give yourself to prayer and fasting for you to have and grow in faith to stop all form of ungodliness when it comes to your door and the spirit to know the lies behind who and what comes to your door (Mk.9:29, Jn.14:26, Is.58:6,8).

You had allowed all kinds of ungodliness to come into your home. Now, declare your authority in Jesus Christ and take responsibility to be good and godly door to your home.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being a careless door and allowing all forms of ungodliness to gain access to my home.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your word to see behind the veil of what and what comes to my door.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with faith, boldness and authority to stop all forms of ungodliness and invitations to worldliness from reaching my wife, children and home.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take responsibility and exercise authority to be the door of my sheep just like Jesus Christ is and by His life in me, I stop all forms of ungodliness from gaining access to my wife, children and home because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
