Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we discovered as husbandmen that we must believe the word of God concerning our wife and children over their present reports, opinion of men or suggestions of satan, sin and the world. That you and I must see our wife and children through the eye of the word of God. Whatever God has said about them is superior to anything or anyone else.
So today, let us consider an important decision you must take if you want to remain focus on the vision of God for your wife and children. It is the association you keep and how it can influence you.
Do not be deceived. Bad company ruins good morals (1Cor.15:33)
As husbandmen, we just think that we cannot be influenced negatively by keeping bad company or relationships. We think that we can stay the course, focusing on the plans and purpose of God for our wife and children if we surround ourselves with ungodly relationships. But the word of God makes it very clear that bad company ruins good morals and if you are not vigilant you can be influenced negatively and believe the traditions of men rather the truth of Scriptures.
In Colossians chapter 2 and verse 8, the word of God says,
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ (Col.2:8)
As the husbandman, your life, pursuit, decision, conversation and conduct must be guided by the eternal principles of the word of God. Yes, the instructions and visions from the Bible for you and for your wife and children may not and will always not make any human sense, but it contains in it joy, peace and life everlasting. Whatever you see and do that defeat the perfect will of God for your life as the man, husband and father as you relate with your wife and children must be rejected.
But how do I escape unrighteous influences?
Firstly, you must let your wife and children and those around you know that you stand for JESUS and JESUS alone (Matt.5:14-16). His ways are your ways and His thoughts are your thoughts. Never allow your emotions to make you come down low to the rudiments of the world.
Secondly, you must deliberately ask the Holy Spirit to anoint you with the Spirit of boldness, courage and faith. In Joshua chapter 1 and verse 6, the Scripture says, be strong and of a good courage………………(Jos.1:6). And in verse nine (9) of Joshua chapter 1, the Bible also said, Be strong and of a good courage…..(Jos.1:9). As the husbandman, you must have the strength to draw the lines between what is acceptable and what is not, on the basis of the word of God.
God wants you to be productive. God wants you to stay the course as you explore the goodness in your wife and children from His word. You must connect with relationships that will empower, inspire and motivate you to stay focus on the vision.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to choose the right company and help me to be steadfast in doing what is right at all times.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the principles, beliefs and deceitfulness of man.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of faith, boldness and courage that I may do Your will.
FAITH CONFESSION
I choose the right relationships that will empower, inspire and motivate me to stand on and for the truth of the word of God and stay focus on the vision God has for my life, wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
