HE AROSE AND REBUKE THE WIND, YOU TOO CAN!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mk.4:35-39, Philp.3:13-14, Heb.12:2, Lk.10:19, 2Cor.5:17, Eph.4:22-23, Jos.1:6-8, Jn.5:39, Jude 1:20-21, 2Cor.4:13-15, 2Tim.2:15, Rom.10:10, Matt.18:18-20, Rom.8:37

Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we were reminded of the power, authority and dominion God has bestowed on us and the need to exercise them because of the challenges and responsibilities of becoming the good and godly husbandman.

Today, let us look at another dimension of the authority and power of the husbandman.

And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, peace, be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm (Mk.4:35-39)

Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, is in the boat in a journey, just like you are in your journey to becoming the good and godly man, husband and father. While the boat sails far in the sea, a great storm of wind rises, causing water to get into the ship. And because of the quantity of water getting into the boat, the ship begins to sink and those in the ship become afraid. But Jesus Christ does something that demonstrates He is in charge. He rises and rebukes the wind and calmness returns to the ship and their journey. He and others in the boat arrive at the destination.

What lessons can you and I learn from Jesus Christ whom we are to look up to?

The first lesson for you is that no matter the challenges you are having as you lead yourself, wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord, you must never lose focus on the goals that God as set for you as the good and godly man, husband and father (Matt.6:22, Philp.3:13-14, Heb.12:2).

The second lesson is that you must not watch your home and relationship with God, your wife and children destroyed by satan, sin and the world just like what happened to the first husbandman, Adam (Gen.3:6, Jn.10:10). You must not only be watchful in the spirit, you must also rise up and rebuke every contrary force against the perfect will of God for you as the husbandman.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Lk.10:19)

But how do I arise in power and authority, rebuke the forces of satan, sin and the world and declare calmness to challenges that come with leading myself, wife and children?

You must repent of your sins and have a personal and sincere relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus speaking says, ye must be born again (Jn.3:3). And after you are born of the spirit, you must build and maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Eph.4:22-24). If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2Cor.5:17)

You must build up yourself in faith and boldness by studying the word of God, believing what it says and praying for the release of the spirit of faith and boldness into your life (2Tim.2:15, 2Cor.4:13-15, Jude 1:20-21, Jn.5:39, Jos.1:6-8, Heb.11:1-6,33).

And keep declaring only what God has said about you and your covenant responsibilities as the man, husband and father, from His word (Rom.10:10, 2Cor.4:13). Don’t be ashamed to speak to the storms and challenges that seem to threaten you pursuit of becoming the good and godly husbandman. And as you speak God’s word to the winds, God will honour His word and you will have a testimony as the good and godly man, husband and father (Matt.18:18-20).

God has not called you to a life of defeat. God has not called to be a failure as the husbandman. Don’t accept anything that denies you the life of the good and godly husbandman. Walk with Jesus Christ because He has made you made more than a conqueror (Rom.8:37).
