GROW UP, MAN UP, BE LIKE JESUS CHRIST!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Pro.4:18, Gen.17:1-3, Ecc.7:9, Gen.2:15-16, Jn.3:1-8, 1Cor.13:10-11, Gal.4:19, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Rom.8:1, Pro.4:20-24, Ezk.2:2

The subject of growing up must be a life-long experience for you and I as husbandmen. And just like the Scripture states in Proverbs chapter 4 and verse 18, the perfect will of God for us is continuous growth.

For the path of the just man is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day (Pro.4:18)

As the husbandman, you must rise up and take personal responsibility to outgrow those attitudes that do not befit your position as the good and godly husbandman and be committed to improved life on an incremental basis.

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the Almighty God, walk before me and be thou perfect (Gen.17:1)

God wanted the husbandman, Abram to grow up. God wanted Abram to be better in character and attitude. God wanted him to be matured.

When I was a child, I spake like a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things (1Cor.13:11)

You must stop behaving like a child and get rid of those childish behaviours. The areas you need continued improvement and better performance as you lead yourself, wife and children are anger, sex and food. God wants you to have control over your desire for food, sex and put your anger under control (Ecc.7:9). As the husbandman, you must also be able to control how you respond and react to your wife and children when they offend you. You must stop abusing them emotionally and physically. You must not withhold good from them because they offend you. You must say no to the temptation to take what does not belong to you. You must develop the capacity to do what is right from God’s word on a daily basis.

To do away with childish behaviour and grow up to be like Jesus Christ in words and in deed and character, you must engage yourself in these covenant demands of Scriptures.

Give attention to the study of God’s words so that you can learn of His instructions, commandments and precepts (Pro.4:20-22, Ps.119:105). You must also meditate or think about what the word of God has said about your roles as the man, husband and father (Jos.1:6-8, Ps.1:2). You must always put God’s word before you as you walk, sit, eat or even sleep. You must then pray fervently for the word of God to be planted firmly in your heart so that you become empowered by the Spirit of God to obey and do what God commands in order for you to attain your growth plan as the good and godly man, husband and father (Gal.4:19, Ezk.2:2, Philp.2:13, Jn.15:5, Rom.5:5).

The perfect will of God is for you to be like Jesus Christ in all aspects of your responsibilities. And as you abide in the word and the word abides in you, and you do all that the word commands, you will experience steady growth and improvement as the good and godly husbandman (Jn.15:4).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to grow in Your word for my life as the man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, let Your word dwell richly in me and let it influence my walk and work.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to dominate the influences of the flesh and make me to live by Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have turned from my old childish ways of thinking and doing things to now thinking, walking, acting and working according to the WORD OF GOD because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
