YOU ARE GOOD FOR VALUE

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Acts 19:12-14, Matt.5:14-16, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15, Ps.23:1, Eph.5:25, Jos.24:15, Eph.6:4, Col.3:7-9, Rom.12:21, Deut.6:5-7, Job 1:1-3

If you are familiar with how banks work, the phrase “good for value” will not sound strange. Now let me explain briefly how it works. If you have an account with a bank or you are a walk-in-customer who wants to cash a cheque, the bank officer will want to first of all validate if the cheque is good for payment. The cheque instrument will pass from one officer or process to another until it gets to the final person. This final officer verifies and confirms that the cheque is good for payment. Only then will you be paid. All these processes are carried out to ensure that only the rightful person is paid.

What is the lesson you and I can learn from this?

The first is that you and I as husbandmen are like the cheque and our wife, children and the world are the checking officers. Your life and my life must be good and have godly value. As the husbandman, you must prove that you are indeed the valid and genuine bank cheque that is good for payment by demonstrating and living your life as the godly man, godly husband and godly father.

Reading Acts of the Apostle chapter 19 gives you a clear understanding that your wife and children know whether or not you are the godly husbandman. Satan even knows. Your family members and friends know whether you are good for value or not. You cannot pretend. You cannot announce it.  It is either you are the godly husbandman or you are not (Acts 1:1).

So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons and the diseases departed from them and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus , saying , we adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you (Acts 19:12-14)

Does your wife and children know you as good for value? Can those around you testify that you are the good and godly husbandman? Can God testify that you are like Him to your wife, children and the marketplace (Matt.5:14-16, Job.1:1-3)? You must not concern yourself with how much entitlement you deserve, rather you must focus on what you must do to be validated as the godly husbandman.

But what must I do to be good for value?

The first is that you must allow Jesus Christ and His words to increase in you (Ps.119:11, Philp.3:7-15, Col.3:16-17, 2Tim.2:15) . The more you allow Jesus Christ to have His way in your life and in all that you do, the quicker you become like Him in words and in deed, giving good and godly value to your life as the good and godly husbandman. Secondly, you must give yourself to the demands of prayer with fasting and word study (Matt.7:7, Mk.9:29, Gal.4:19, Pro.4:22-24, Jn.5:39, Jos.1:6-8). These spiritual exercises will help you to access the power of God that will empower you to think like Christ, to act like Christ and to conduct your words and responses like Christ, thereby making you to live as the good and godly husbandman.

God has made you good for value. Take up the responsibility to be the good and godly husbandman of Christ-like value.
