YOU ARE LIGHT

Bible Texts: Jn.1:1-8, Matt.5:14-16, Gen.12:1-3, Ps.24:1-2, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.12:21, 1Cor.13:4-8

The times we are in today are challenging days. Darkness seems to cover the earth and gross darkness the people. And this continues to negatively impact the family. But as the good and godly husbandman, you must take the lead to be light that shines in the midst of darkness so that you can be the hope for a glorious future for your wife and children through Jesus Christ. It is for this reason we want to revisit the teaching of January 4, 2023. I pray for a new understanding for you in Jesus name. Amen.

In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God. The same was in the beginning with God. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light (Jn.1:1-8)

Reading from verse 8 of John chapter 1, there are two important truths to note. The first is that God sent a man, whose name was John. The second is that God sent John to bear witness of the Light, Jesus Christ so that men will believe Him. And when you read down the Bible passage, you discover that John fulfilled that assignment of a witness to the end that all people believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the lesson for you and I. God made you and I husbandmen, that is a man, husband and father. We did not make ourselves. In Genesis chapter 1 and verses 26 to 28, God made you a man. God said let us make man…….(Gen.1:26-28). In verse 18 of Genesis chapter 2, God made you a husband. The Bible says that God said that it is not good for man to be alone, I will make him a helpmeet (wife) (Gen.2:18). And in verse 1 of Genesis chapter 4 God made you a father. And Adam knew his wife and she conceived and bare Cain and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord (Gen.4:1).

And in order to make us flourish, God sent us to our wife and children both as the men, husbands and fathers so that we can be witnesses and ambassadors of Jesus Christ. God sent us to them to represent Jesus Christ in words, actions and conduct. In Matthew chapter 5 and verses 14 to 16, the Word of God says that, ye are the light of world……and let your light so shine before men that that they glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matt.5:14-16).

God wants you to do to your wife and children what Jesus Christ will do were He to be in your position as the good and godly man, husband and father. While Jesus Christ was earth, He was merciful, loving, compassionate, forgiving, caring, respectful, faithful, righteous, holy, gracious, understanding of our weakness, praying for the people, providing for their needs, and leading the people with courage, hope and faith.

Therefore, you and I are made by God to be witnesses of Jesus Christ, first in our homes and as we relate with our wife, children and in the market place of life. Let us make our lives count for Jesus Christ because that is what makes us the good and godly husbandmen.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to represent Jesus Christ in my home and in the lives of my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the life of Jesus Christ shine through me, making my wife, children and the world to believe You.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto You.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am made and sent by God as a witness of the LIGHT and I receive grace to represent the LIGHT in the lives of my wife, children and the market place of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman, in Jesus name. Amen.
