WALKING IN THE STEPS OF JESUS

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Heb.12:2, Eph.5:12, Acts 1:1, Philp.3:17, 1Thess.1:6, Lk.18:1, Jn.1:4, Jn.3:16, Jos.1:6-8, Eph.5:25, Jn.14:26, Mk.9:29, Acts 10:32-36, 2Cor.5:17

Let’s begin today’s teaching by asking this very simple question. Who should be your perfect example of the good and godly husbandman? Is it the world, man, or Jesus Christ? Now, let me help you. The perfect example of the good and godly husbandman is JESUS CHRIST and that is the Person you must follow.

Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith The Bible describes as the bridegroom (Heb.12:1-2)

The walk of the husbandman is a journey. It is a race you must run. And if you must make it as the good and godly husbandman, you must know the path and that is what Jesus Christ, represents, which you can follow.

BE YE THEREFORE FOLLOWERS OF GOD AS DEAR CHILDREN, AND WALK IN LOVE AS CHRIST ALSO HATH LOVED US, and hath given himself for us an offering  and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour (Eph.5:1-2)

But why should I follow and walk in the steps of Jesus Christ as the good and godly husbandman?

The first reason is because Jesus Christ is perfect and He is love. Your pastor, bishop, or father is not perfect because they have their shortcomings and weaknesses. This is why the Bible commands that, the husband should love his wife as Christ has loved the church (Eph.5:25). Secondly, God wants you to be like Jesus Christ to your wife and children because He is the way, the truth and the life. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2Cor.5:17). When you are in Jesus and He is in, He guides you on the way to go, teaches you the truth and helps you to understand and act your covenant roles as the husbandman. Thirdly, Jesus Christ represents the light and life that you and I need to be useful as husbandmen. In John Gospel chapter 10, the Bible says of Jesus that He came that ye may have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10). And in John chapter 1, the Scripture describes Him as the light of men. In him was life and the life was the light of men (Jn.1:4).  Jesus Christ is the life you must have to attract the loyalty, respect, honour and faithfulness of your wife and children. The more of His life you have manifesting in and through you, the more attractive you become to your wife, children and the world.

But for you to follow the example of and walk in footsteps of Jesus Christ as you lead your life, wife and children, you must have a personal relationship with Him. This means confessing your sins before Him and making Him to be the Lord over your life (Jn.3:3, Acts 10:32-36). You can pray the prayer of salvation right now. After you have done this, engage the Person and help of the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you. I will send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, who will teach you all things…..(Jn.14:26). You must then continue to give attention to the study of the word of God and prayers (Jos.1:6-8, Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1).

Walking in the steps of Jesus Christ and following after His examples is the best way you can grow, develop and manifest the characteristics of the good and godly husbandman.
